Do you remember the Miami Gatos soccer team? They only played for a season in 1972 before rebranding as the Miami Toros the following year with owner Joe Robbie (you know who he is), maybe with the hope that a few changes would help improve their record. It kind of worked, but just three years later with more changes, the Toros moved to Fort Lauderdale and called themselves the Strikers. In this WTVJ sports footage from April, 1972, the Gatos went to the mall (is it Dadeland?) to kick around a soccer ball.

If you're the one person who isn't familiar with this phrase, it's from the Star Wars movies ("use the Force. Luke..."), the first of which hit theaters in May, 1977. In this WPLG interview a month after the movie's release,Luke Skywalker...oops, we mean Mark Hamill talks about why the movie is so popular.

Happy birthday to the Empire State Building in New York! When it opened in 1931, it was the world's tallest building. Miami's own Daily News Tower (today's Freedom Tower) and the Dade County Courthouse were the tallest buildings in Florida in 1931, but they were still dwarfed by the Empire State Building. In this early 1990s aerial footage of downtown Miami from WPLG, you can see the Dade County Courthouse at the beginning and the Freedom Tower at the end of the excerpt. You'll also see a few landmarks that no longer exist.

England's King Charles III and Queen Camilla are winding down their short official U.S. visit with a stop in New York City today.Though these royals won't be visiting Miami, Queen Elizabeth did, for about 10 hours back in May 1991. On the queen's itinerary that day was a visit to Booker T. Washington Middle School (it's a high school today) where she was met by protestors, as shown in this WPLG report by Bertha Coombs Sague. Once in the school, the queen greeted students, toured the school, and was serenaded by the band. Queen Elizabeth left Miami for Tampa.

It's graduation season! Miami Dade College will host a day of commencement events tomorrow (4/25) at loanDepot Park starting at 8:30am. In June 1963, students graduating from Miami Dade Junior College and their guests could fit in the Dade County Auditorium, as shown in this WTVJ newsfilm. MDC has certainly grown by leaps and bounds since then, hence the need for a stadium to accommodate everyone tomorrow. Congratulations to all the graduates!

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
