As ‘The Late Show’ nears its final bow, #StephenColbert opens up about the cancellation that shocked the industry, the win of going out as a “martyr” and his next act in Middle-earth.

Last July, @colbert looked straight to camera and announced that his 11th season of 'The Late Show' would be his last. CBS, whose parent company, Paramount, was in the midst of closing a multibillion-dollar merger with David Ellison’s Skydance that required the Trump administration’s approval, insisted it was “purely a financial decision.” But the choice to cancel the No. 1 show in late night raised more than a few eyebrows, particularly as it came just two weeks after Paramount had agreed to pay Trump $16 million to settle a controversial lawsuit over a 60 Minutes interview.

"I know that the show had to end at some time. I did not expect it to end this way." Read the full cover story at the link in bio.

Mic Drop of the Year: Stephen Colbert

For GQ’s 30th Men of the Year issue, we moved into the legendary @chateaumarmont in West Hollywood, where we photographed and interviewed the year’s most influential figures in film, television, music and fashion. The resulting portfolio - shot by Tyrell Hampton and styled by George Cortina - features the heavy-hitters who found themselves, for better or worse, at the center of the cultural conversation this year.

First up is Stephen Colbert, who helmed late night’s number one show for the better part of a decade, before it was canceled by CBS earlier this year.

“The best reason to be number one is that the network does not fuck with you,” he tells GQ. “That is the best reason to be number one. And we enjoyed nine unfucked years.”

In an exclusive exit interview with @zachbaron, Colbert speaks for the first time about how he learned about the cancellation of The Late Show, how he plans to end it, and what he might do next.

Watch the interview — and see all the photos from the Chateau — at the link in bio. #GQMOTY

Consider this Stephen Colbert’s exit interview.

On an April afternoon in New York City, @colbert settled in for the first of two wide-ranging conversations about his surprise cancellation, his Hollywood future and the real reason his studio audience is told, in no uncertain terms, not to boo Trump.

“I knew that the show had to end at some time,” he tells THR. “I did not expect it to end this way. But my staff are the only people I’m worried about.” Read the full story at the link in bio.

Veja Stories do Instagram Secretamente
