One year since the trip that changed the trajectory of my life

This trip with @lace_danceprogram was the push I needed to realise I need to follow my passion and that there was indeed a space for someone like me in the industry. When I say someone like me, I say this as an Indian Australian woman in her late 20’s. Why is this important? The industry in Australia or what I had seen thus far was often geared to younger people and often only one POC role (if there was one or heaven for it if there were more than one) would be available making opportunities much less common than what is already a competitive industry with minimal jobs in Australia. So to go over to LA and in my first week be in a music video, audition for south Asian dance roles on Netflix and be in the same spaces where I was learning just by watching people I admire dance next to me it was overwhelming and exciting. I finally realised I could pursue performing because I finally believed that I was worth the risk.

I couldn’t have done it without the incredible girls I lived with and shared this journey with. Thank you @ruairagabriella @lenagoreaci @roosfreriks_ @sydjjonas for sharing in this journey with me and encouraging me along the way. I am so grateful to still have yall supporting me and I am so excited to support yall in your own journeys.

Thank you to LACE and @lisabianconi for the opportunity to dance and grow. You nurture all your dancers and have created a beautiful program that inspires so many.

Anyway, excited for what’s next and keen to keep persevering through endless auditions and rejections because at the end of the day, I finally love what I do. I will continue to sow the seeds of my skills and talent for when the universe decides to provide rain and let me bloom.
