Our final potential venue tour for the 2026 World AeroPress Championship 🇲🇽🇲🇽
Armed with only a whatsapp number and Grant's high-school level Spanish, we headed to Colonia Juárez to tour Frónton Bucareli. This historic building, which spans back over 90 years, was once a pelota court 🎾 Today, it serves as a cultural hub for concerts, weddings, art exhibitions, and perhaps now the world's largest coffee championship? 👀
Want to secure your chance for a trip to CDMX? Sign up for your local AeroPress Championship, win, and you'll be joining us in December to represent your country on the world stage 🏆🌐

One of the privileges of running the world's largest coffee championship is touring amazing spaces like these 🤯🇲🇽
Our friends @todosporelcafe took us to Poliforum Siqueiros to see the cultural center where they hosted last year's Mexican AeroPress Championship. "The vibe is f***ing cool" as Ricardo so eloquently put it 😂
The real treat was a private tour of the massive artwork "La Marcha de la Humanidad," created by David Alfaro Siqueiros in the 1960's. Although the entire building was commissioned as the artwork, the forum is generally recognized as the world's largest mural, spanning 8,700 square metres. Led by David Alfaro, an international team of architects, engineers, painters, sculptors, and acoustic engineers assembled to complete the project, which officially opened in 1971.
Maybe we should host the World AeroPress Championship here 🤔

Before one of our last potential World AeroPress Championship venue visits we stopped in at @curva.cafe 🇲🇽☕️
We were lucky to catch a meeting with Ramiro who leads the @aeropress distribution in Mexico, and found the roastery @curva.cafe was a stone's throw away in the historic Centro neighbourhood.
🗣 Competitors and international visitors take note: Centro Histórico is rich with architecture from pre-colonial, colonial, 19th and 20th century. It has palaces, theatres, museums, historic churches and some beautiful examples of Mexican muralism and other art local art expressions. You could spend your whole trip exploring this part of the city.
Oh, and the coffee and staff at @curva.cafe were wonderful 🫶

The search for a perfect World AeroPress Championship venue continues 🇲🇽🤘
We met back up with Julio who gave us a tour of @houseofvanscdmx in the Mixcoac neighbourhood. This multi-storey structure is WILD 🤯 Originally built in 1903 by the Serralde family, this was once a sprawling family home. When the last of the family passed in the late 90's, the building was revived as a restaurant and then the infamous Bulldog Cafe — a popular music venue that served as an epicentre for arts, culture, and community during Mexico's rock and roll boom of the early 2000s.
This was easily one of the coolest venues we've seen in the city, and I'm sure you can see why we think it's a contender to host a coffee festival alongside the world's largest coffee competition.
Any thoughts on the space? 👀

After three wonderful years of serving coffee from what might just be the tiniest cafe in Melbourne, it’s time to find a new owner for our Degraves Street coffee shop.
If you’ve been in, you already know this is a buzzy, fun, and vibey shop, well-loved by regulars and a draw card for afternoon tourists.
The name is not included, but there’s a lot of scope to expand the offering and the hours — I just don’t have the capacity to take it on.
Well-suited to an ambitious barista keen to own their own shop, or to an existing operator looking for a turnkey addition to the empire.
Hit me up for more details.

Meeting with the local legends like Alberto Rivera of @bunamx is one of the privileges of bringing the world's largest coffee competition to a different city each year 🇲🇽
We visited Alberto at the Buna HQ in Mexico City's Doctores neighbourhood to get a local's insight on the World AeroPress Championship coming to the city. He shared his story of growing one of Mexico's most iconic roasteries with a group of close friends, the experience of operating in CDMX since founding in 2012 and what's next for the company.
We toured the on-site facility where they roast both Mexican coffee and cacao for their shops and shelves, and ended in the lab, discussing our favourite sample roasters—Alberto is a fan of the Link for how easy it is to roast at the farm level, allowing producers to taste the end result of their labours 🌱☕️
Have you had coffee roasted by @bunamx before?

Another day, another potential venue for the World AeroPress Championship 😲🇲🇽
This afternoon we viewed the epic Maravilla Studios, a compound north of the city with multiple spanning rooms to choose from. Most frequently the spaces are used for film and TV shoots, but we're exploring the idea of bringing the world's largest coffee competition here in December. Picture hundreds of the most passionate coffee lovers from 70 countries alongside hundreds more locals spanning every corner of the room.
What do you think of the space? 👀

Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting Israel and Ricardo of @todosporelcafe at @kinoo.coffeebar 🦝🇲🇽
These two were our local Hosts for the National championship in 2025 with ten regionals across the country and five hundred participants 🤯 They shared local advice for this year's World Final, took us for a private tour of La Marcha de la Humanidad, created by David Alfaro Siqueiros, at the Poliforum Siqueros (more on that later 👀), and their plans to grow the Mexican championship to reach even more passionate professionals and enthusiasts.
Thank you to @kinoo.coffeebar for the hospitality ☕️🫶

Stumbled across @mitscafe after one of our venue visits for the World AeroPress Championship 🇲🇽🌐
@armando.frame greeted us with warm hospitality and shared a welcome drink, Café de Olla, which is Mexican coffee brewed with local spices and cane sugar (12/10 reccomend 🤌). We talked about the coffee culture in Mexico City over flat whites and cortados, gathered a few of his personal reccomendations, and even learned we have a mutual friend (shoutout @jozzgs)!
It feels like this city is one where you oughtn't plot your course, but rather meander your way to a destination, as you're sure to find gems like this along the way ❤️☕️

Venue visits for the 2026 World AeroPress Championship en la Ciudad de México 🇲🇽
This is easily one of our favourite parts of organising the world's largest coffee competition—exploring the destination city and selecting the perfect venue for the World Final.
We've got 11 potential spaces lined up to explore, but if you're a local with any suggestions we'd love to hear em in the comments 👇
Thanks @foroindierocks for showing us the space 👀
