I Am very grateful for my story.... And great stories need great storytellers. But what do you do when your story is a part of a history that people are ashamed to mention or even talk about?Welp.... This is, The Story Of My 1st Rap Group 🎤
I met Christopher Brian Bridges during the spring of 1988 at little league baseball practice in Oak Park, Illinois.Besides me, there were only 2 other "black" boys on the team.Since I recognized Chris from school, I asked him to play catch. And that's how I met the best friend I ever had.
We graduated Lincoln Elementary School in 1989 (6th grade).
We graduated Emerson Jr. High in 1991 (7th & 8th grade).
Sept 1991, Me & Chris went to the 1st high-school party of the year called a "MORP" ("prom" spelled backwards). While we were walking home, I was rapping Digital Underground's song, "Freaks Of The Industry."
Our newly acquired friend Kovasciar Myvette was walking with us & says, "aye man, you sound really good - do yall rap? - let's start a rap group!" Chris said he wrote a rap when he was "nine years old", I wrote poems & creative stories but we started a rap group at 13/14 years of age.
We used our weekly allowance to book time at 'Perry's home studio' off Madison Ave in Oak Park & recorded our 1st song "Something For Your Jamming Pleasure." Kovasci sampled Black Sheep's "The Choice Is Yours" & made the a beat. The 1st name of our group was "4 Steps Ahead" because my brother Claudell was supposed to be a background dancer.Haha!!!
Kovasci's mom worked for Ebony/Jet Magazine downtown on Michigan Ave & that's where we had our 1st photo shoot. We changed our name to "TIC, TAC, TOE" to be more commercially marketable like KRISS KROSS & ABC.Kovasci's mom also plugged us with with a more professional studio, where we cut a 4 song demo tape using the studio producers beats. The main song was called "My Girl." This also the studio where we met Twista when he was still "Tung Twista."

4-IZE & LUDACRIS FREESTYLE | 1999
In 1991 Ludacris, 4Ize were in a trio by the name of Tic, Tac, Toe. Originally meeting in little league baseball practice in Oak Park, Illinois as told by 4Ize. They both attended elementary and middle school together as best friends. Fast forward to 1992 when Ludacris goes to visit his Dad in Atlanta for the summer (group would later join him that summer performing at open mics) before eventually moving from Illinois to Virginia before ultimately settling in Atlanta to finish high school. This is where Ludacris would go from humble beginnings at the radio station to ultimately becoming who we know his as today. This is actually a crazy story because I feel like the origin of his story always points to Atlanta but that is far from where his music journey began. Here you can see the early days of Disturbing The Peace. The Illinois alignment makes perfect sense now explaining the bond with @shawnnaworldwide need to get my hands on that Incognegro shirt never seen one in person!
