May is Mental Health Awareness Month - a time to bring visibility to the inner experiences we don’t always have language for.

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯, 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘥, 𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦𝘥?

This multimedia art installation is an exploration of that space.

Through photography, film, sound, poetry, immersive elements and movement, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 brings visibility to women’s emotional and mental health experiences; what is often unseen, unspoken, and unacknowledged, and the journey from silence into expression, awareness, and reclamation.

This project marks my first large-scale artistic work. It was created following a deeply transformative & painful season of my life, and has grown into something much bigger than myself.

At its core, this work is about the emotional landscapes we don’t always have space to express - grief, rage, loneliness, longing, resilience, and becoming.

I believe deeply in the importance of sharing women’s stories and amplifying women’s voices, and I’m proud to be doing that through this installation.

This one-night multi-sensory & multi-media experience is an invitation to witness, to feel, and to connect.

This multimedia art installation is an exploration of that space.

Through photography, film, sound, poetry, immersive elements and movement, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 brings visibility to women’s emotional and mental health experiences; what is often unseen, unspoken, and unacknowledged, and the journey from silence into expression, awareness, and reclamation.

This project marks my first large-scale artistic work. It was created following a deeply transformative & painful season of my life, and has grown into something much bigger than myself.

At its core, this work is about the emotional landscapes we don’t always have space to express - grief, rage, loneliness, longing, resilience, and becoming.

I believe deeply in the importance of sharing women’s stories and amplifying women’s voices, and I’m proud to be doing that through this installation.

what an unexpected gift to realize that @framej.angle was filming all of the behind the scenes of the cost of silence 🥹📽️🤍

here is a very small glimpse into the making of 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 and some laughs we had along the way ☺️

this installation started as a simple idea to take one single photo and capture an experience i had

and to see what it has grown into is incredible

never in my life have i created something so vulnerable, raw, and personal, and i’ve gotten to do it alongside incredible people who supported me, believed in my story, laughed with me, and helped me feel safe enough to push different edges of mine @framej.angle @shruti_photojournal @sdm__beauty @glambyzamm

not only is 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 powerful in what it represents and the story it tells, but this entire experience and creation of this continues to remind us the importance of community, creativity, storytelling, and the power of supporting one another 🌎✨🩷

In two weeks, I’ll be showcasing my first multimedia art installation rooted in mental health awareness - bringing to light many of the things we experience and feel, that are often unseen or that we’ve been told we shouldn’t express

In my early twenties I hosted free workshops throughout Boston and created an initiative called 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵, which brought women together to talk about their mental health and break down the stigma around it

It’s really incredible to see where my journey has continued to take me in not only holding spaces for connection around mental health & our life experiences, but to now be bringing it to light in a completely different form and in my new home - San Diego 🤍

I had to speed up my talking speed in order for this to be under three minutes 😂 but there is lots to share and this doesn’t even cover it all

Diving into the importance of having a timeline, your why/concept and getting clear on it, budgeting, materials needed, administrative work, marketing, forming a team, and more ✨

There is a lot of planning that goes into creating an installation, but it has been incredibly rewarding already and really exciting to see come together

𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼!! 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 - 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝘆 🙌

This installation has pushed me in so many ways - from promoting myself, asking for help, stepping into this new identity, navigating all of the moving pieces, and sharing a part of my story & myself in a very open, vulnerable way

The best part of it all has been bringing community together and highlighting other incredible creatives in the process 🦋🫶🫂
