Yee Ha! The invitation to the party said “Wild Wild West.” I grew up in North Dakota and have spent my share of time in the West End of London so I understood the assignment. A deconstructed western shirt with Japanese-inspired styling that I found at a flea market in LA, white denim, Santa Fe belt, and a vintage yellow bandana… which several people very enthusiastically informed me has an entirely different meaning in the leather community.

Good to know if I plan to wear it again with white denim.

I saw a friend share that posting spa photos is good for your mental health, which honestly sounds medically questionable but who am I to argue when real therapy is so expensive.

Apparently some guys can casually post a handful of towel photos and look like they own a gym. I need a full robe, secure knots, and the posture of someone trying to look like they belong in the salt cave.

So here I am at Sec-he Spa in Palm Springs doing the hard work of healing publicly.Namaste’.

Recovery has changed my perspective. Where I once saw brokenness, I now see resilience, and lots of grace. I’m learning that healing isn’t about becoming someone or somewhere new, it’s about finally seeing the beauty that is always there, everywhere I go.

There’s plenty of ugliness in the world, but I don’t have to live there to know it exists.
