Jay Jermyn’s practice exists at the intersection of sculpture, lighting, sound, and spatial experience. A musician, artist and industrial designer, his work examines the relationship between digital, natural and human phenomena.

Working across object design and contemporary art, Jermyn creates pieces that feel both industrial and deeply intuitive — exploring notions of self and its fragmentation within the contexts of nature and modern technological environments.

His sculptural lighting works move beyond function, becoming atmospheric objects that shape the spaces around them through texture, shadow, reflection, and form.

A deeply distinctive contemporary practice.

Woven slowly, intuitively, and with extraordinary sensitivity to material, Emma Sheppard’s (@_sundance_studio_ ) practice explores memory, landscape, ritual, and histories of weaving.

Her work sits at the intersection of art, craft, and sculpture, transforming fibre into immersive forms that feel both ancient and deeply contemporary.

Her handwoven works hold rhythm, tension, and gesture — each piece carrying the trace of time, process, and the hand.

@billybho’s ‘Pan Cabinet’ in Taking Shape 🌟. An exercise in excess — seductive, dissonant, and intentionally overstimumating.

Layering seemingly disparate materials from beadwork to snakeskin print, metallic textiles, copper, brass, timber, acrylic, and more… the work collapses distinctions between luxury and kitsch and questions conventional notions of good taste vs bad taste while asking what taste means in a culture shaped by aesthetic overload.

Caro Pattle’s @caro.pattle experimental object-based practice explores handcraft processes through a lens of contemporary materiality. She draws from a range of craft disciplines to create works that joyfully muddle organic/inorganic binaries. Pattle’s practice spans large-scale public art installation through to small sculpture and is underpinned by ongoing research into material agency, object power and future worlds. Embedded across all of her output is a sense of pleasure and play.

Pattle graduated from a Bachelor of Textiles at RMIT in 2019 with a previous Bachelor of Fine Arts completed in 2009. The recipient of several travel grants and industry prizes, she was named the Australian Textile Graduate of the Year by the Design Institute of Australia for 2020. Pattle’s work was presented by Craft at the 2022 & 2023 NGV Melbourne Design Fairs and selected for the group exhibitions: Foreign Dialogues, The Gentle Going Hour, The Vessel Project, Improper Structures, By/Product, Welcome, Cheers, A Gentle Unwinding, and It’s Not Just Blue. In 2023, Pattle presented a commissioned work in Melbourne Now, Vessels at NGV Australia: Ian Potter Centre.

See her work at Taking Shape this Melbourne Design Week at Park House, 631 Victoria Street Abbotsford. (Entry from Victoria Street.)

Claire Ellis @claireellisceramics is a Canadian–Australian self-taught ceramic artist based in Coburg North, Naarm. Her practice is grounded in experimentation, material inquiry, and an ethic of care, alongside a critical engagement with politics, and processes of change.

Working with local by-products and waste streams derived from mined materials, Ellis engages ceramics as a way to attend to and revalue what is typically discarded or overlooked. Her work investigates supply chains and systems change, with a focus on seeking to process and make visible the social, environmental, and often obscured economic damage caused by the mining industry in Australia.

Ellis has exhibited her work locally and internationally. Following a nomination for a seven week artist residency in China’s ceramic capital, Jingdezhen, in 2024 she completed her first international solo exhibition.

Ellis won the innovation award at the Warrandyte Pottery Expo and was a finalist in the Churchie, Girra, Woollahra, Omnia, Wyndham, Little Things, Remagine and Northern Beaches Art Prizes. Her work has been published in magazines, journals and books and she has been an invited guest speaker at several events including The Australian Ceramics Triennale in 2022, the Robin Boyd Foundation in 2023, Melbourne Town Hall in 2024 and was a guest lecturer at the Australian National University and the Slovak Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 2025.

See her work in Taking Shape on until 24th of May @ Park House 631 Victoria Street, Abbotsford. @estrentals

Yesterday we wrapped up our kids workshop series with ‘Make Your Own Monster’, kids weaving with @austapestry

As part of Melbourne Design Week, WRAP was delighted to collaborate with the wonderful @estrentals @ikea_australia artist Peter Hood (Kurnai, Yorta Yorta) and @austapestry on creative workshops designed for children and families celebrating storytelling, imagination, and the role creativity and design in shaping how we experience the world around us.

The workshops invited young participants to engage with design through hands-on making. These moments of play and curiosity sit closely within WRAP’s broader philosophy: that art and creative practice can foster connection, encourage creative thinking, and build meaningful experiences for all generations.

Thank you to our event partners and to all the young creatives, parents, and guardians who filled the workshops with such energy and joy!

Instagram
