🤔 "What is a Booty Rex?" 🤔 We have heard this question in recent years, so allow us to reintroduce ourselves, along with some beautiful flyers from Prides past. History lesson time! 📖📝

🍑🦖 Booty Rex evolved in the late ‘00s, when the DJs and party people of She.Rex and Anthology of Booty (hence Booty Rex!) teamed up for a mega night of D.C. Pride revelry. Well over a decade later, Booty Rex has outlived its parent parties, and throngs the dancefloor of the Black Cat with gaiety.

🦖 She.Rex was a dyke-centric rock and pop fest thrown by DJs Junebullet, C.Rush, and Coach Vee (and the fine folks of The New Gay) at Chief Ike’s (RIP).

🍑 The Anthology of Booty DJ crew is DJs Natty Boom, mothersheister, Kristy la rAt, bent, and Indanile. At the time, Anthology of Booty was throwing the Backdoor party, a clandestine queer dance party featuring global booty beats, first at 9:30 Club Backbar, later at several other venues including Chief Ike's, Black Cat, and Tropicalia (RIP).

🌈Along with a bevy of special guests, Wannabe DJ (a She.Rex resident DJ) and MC Zombie (regular Anthology of Booty guest) have become mainstays of Booty Rex.

💐Booty Rex regularly sells out the Black Cat because of the deep roots of the party and performers in the local queer communities, the excellent mix of music from close to home to around the world, and our emphasis on the values of enthusiastic consent and respect for each others’ booties, while rejecting racism, anti-blackness, misogyny, transphobia, ableism, classism, and body-shaming
