Beast Industries is one of the most influential companies of 2026.

@mrbeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, is the most popular YouTuber on the planet, with over 650 million subscribers across his channels. His games often involve contestants, or Beast himself, trapped in weird places for long periods of time competing for cash payouts of up to eight figures.

Donaldson’s is a uniquely 21st century story: a junior-college dropout who started making videos as an adolescent, grew an astronomical audience, and is now leveraging that fame to craft a portfolio that includes a snack line, TV show, theme park, and financial platform, with other projects in the offing.

Donaldson has helped pave a lucrative career path for YouTubers, and can be considered a godfather of the creator economy.

Still, there have been growing pains. Public accusations of workplace toxicity and questionable hiring practices dogged his company. Beast Industries hired a law firm to conduct a third-party investigation, which, in 2024, found “several isolated incidents of workplace harassment and misconduct,” but noted the company took “swift and appropriate actions” to address the situations.

“I’ve done more in the first 27 years of my life than most people do in 20 lifetimes,” says Donaldson. “Am I perfect? No. Have I messed up here and there? Of course. But I would just say, overarchingly, we try to do the right thing, and we try to do things that are net positive for humanity.

“And if I make a mistake, I fix it. At least I try to fix it.”

Alphabet is one of TIME’s most influential companies of the year, with CEO Sundar Pichai at the helm.

Pichai’s low-key style has led critics to underestimate him. While analysts called for his resignation, Pichai remained calm; he had been lying in wait for this moment for a decade. In 2016, he had declared Google would be an “AI-first company,” and began cultivating a series of projects—custom chips, Cloud, YouTube, and deep AI research—that seemed to have nothing to do with Google’s core search product.

All of these bets have paid off, and then some. Google DeepMind forged several key breakthroughs that catapulted Google’s Gemini model to the top of many capability leaderboards. Gemini now accounts for a quarter of AI traffic worldwide, up from 6% a year ago, according to Similarweb. Google has quietly introduced millions of people to AI through everyday products. All these successes mean the main criticism Pichai faces is no longer about his leadership, but rather whether Google has once again become too powerful for society’s good. Read more about Pichai’s leadership at the link in bio.

A celebrity founder isn’t enough to build a lasting beauty brand. @haileybieber knew that.

Rhode is a success because she’s taken her authentic obsession with skin care, grown an audience around it, and created products that tap into their aesthetic desires—the same desires she and Rhode continually stoke with the aspirational image of her life and the brand.

In Bieber’s own words, she’s “building a world,” rooted in formulation, innovation, packaging, and, most importantly, storytelling. Skin care is a true obsession of Bieber’s, she can talk your ear off about ingredients and the latest scientific advancements. But with Rhode, she wanted to keep things simple, developing the brand’s mantra of “one of everything really good.”

That focus paid off. Rhode has grown quickly, landing in Sephora and striking a deal with e.l.f. Beauty worth $1 billion, giving the brand the infrastructure to expand worldwide.
That success has earned Rhode a spot on TIME’s 100 most influential companies of the year.Read more of Bieber’s profile at the link in bio.

When you can’t fall asleep because you’re too stressed, counting sheep might not be enough. Instead, experts suggest a simple mental trick that can quiet even the busiest thoughts. They know because they use it themselves.

Enter "cognitive shuffling" which is more interesting than counting sheep, and way less activating than your ruminating thoughts. Read more about how to try this technique at the link in bio.

The last time we visited the establishment formerly known as the Original Beef of Chicagoland, its future appeared to be in doubt. Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) had just dropped a bombshell on its key staffers: He was leaving the restaurant.

By extension, it would presumably relegate Carmy, the show's protagonist—and a man whose depressive brooding evidently fascinated the writers for far longer than it did most viewers—to a less prominent role in the series.

Considering how much richer some of the supporting characters' storylines have turned out to be, it seems like a promising direction.

AI now helps people write wedding toasts, file tax returns — and even process the trauma of war.

While past tools let us externalize mental processes—notebooks for memory, calculators for computation, maps for navigation—AI widens the aperture. Now, summarizing and analyzing information, generating ideas, and making decisions can all be offloaded too. But what happens to our minds when we allow AI to do that? TIME reporter Tharin Pillay explores in the latest episode of AI, Explained by Humans. Read more at the link in bio.

“To be clear, I am not arguing that dating apps have ruined love. Many people meet on apps like Hinge and build something wonderful. But for the large number of people who are dating and feeling worse, the problem is not a personal failing. It is an environment built to maximize scrolling, not security,” writes Dr. Amir Levine.

Twenty years after the original, 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' reunites us with a tempered yet still formidable Miranda Priestly as she navigates the rise of digital-first fashion.

Miranda's role shifts from untouchable authoritarian to vulnerable industry veteran, highlighting the sequel's more modern and nuanced outlook on women in power.

Thousands of civilians have been killed across the Middle East since the United States and Israel launched a surprise attack against Iran on Feb. 28.

An exact toll remains difficult to determine, but compiled figures from governments, health ministries, and human rights groups indicate that at least 2,100 civilians have died as a result of the war—the vast majority by U.S.-Israeli airstrikes.

Hostilities have eased following a two-week cease-fire agreed to on April 8, but the number continues to rise as authorities and aid groups update their counts.

What one technological innovation that defines the country to this day?

In the run-up to the 250th anniversary of the United States, we asked 25 tech insiders—founders, inventors, thinkers, and more—to tell us about an innovation that they think reflects where American life is headed, speaks to the present in a meaningful way, or otherwise evokes this moment in time.

See the full list at the link in bio, including what technology has been named over 5 times.

The dress code for this year’s #MetGala was “Fashion is Art” — and with hundreds of years of art and fashion to pull from, guests interpreted the theme through a wide range of looks. Here are some of the most memorable. 🪶🫧🖐💎

While celebrities were serving looks on the Met Gala red carpet — protesters nearby served up refrains of resistance largely aimed at the night’s hosts, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sánchez Bezos.

Their signs, featuring sayings like “Tax the rich,” “Eat the rich,” and “Your red carpet is stained with blood,” targeted the ultra-wealthy and criticized Amazon’s labor practices.
