Working a new set of heads, which I’ve wanted to do for quite a while now. Starting with various silhouettes from over the years and sketching them all new. This one of the first steps in the process. Consistent balanced shapes, tons of variations, tons of possibilities 💥💥💥

I’m also releasing a brand new set of posters!

Last summer, my friends at SEEN wheat-pasted these designs around Brooklyn and Manhattan, and I even got in on the action. Seeing them out in the streets was incredibly fun, and a bunch of people asked if I could make them available online — so now’s your chance.

There are four designs to choose from:
Smile Today
Melt With Me
Bright Days Ahead
Keep the Streets Sweet
These were printed with a beautiful satin varnish that gives them a super smooth finish and makes the colors pop in a really nice way. They came out even better than I hoped.

4-color offset print on 100 lb. text paper with satin varnish
18 x 24” (45.7 x 61cm)
Available individually or as a set 💥💥💥

I’m excited to kick off my first print release of the year with two new releases that grew out of projects I started last year.

First up: a brand new tattoo flash print!

While I was in Vienna last fall for my residency, I spent a lot of time drawing tattoo flash inspired by classic American traditional tattoo designs — skulls, daggers, roses, melting scoops, and all the good stuff. I didn’t get through nearly as many drawings as I wanted while I was there, so once I got home I kept going and built out a much larger collection. This print features a selection of my favorites.

Compared to my original flash print from 2014, this one has an added layer of pink details that really brings everything to life and makes the whole piece feel louder, sweeter, and more playful. It was printed by my longtime friends at Bushwick Print Lab in Brooklyn on Coventry Rag paper, which is hands-down my favorite paper stock. The cotton rag texture holds the ink beautifully and gives the print such a rich, velvety feel in person.

Scoops and Skulls
Edition of 80
2-color silkscreen print on Coventry Rag 290gsm paper
18 x 24” (45.7 x 61cm)
Numbered, signed, and dated

After nearly a month in Hawaii, I’ve been carving out time to work on some new drawings. After all, it can’t all be a nearly endless feast of Malasadas, shave ice, Li Hing Mui, Haupia pancakes, passion pear pie, mochi, chichi dango, ice cream, Inari, poke, Huli huli chicken, meat jun, Portuguese bean soup, Kalua pig, manapua and all the other local foods that I grew up on 🌴🌴🌴

Today is my birthday! I wasn’t planning on being in Hawaii for this one, but I got lucky! 🌴🏄‍♂️🌺🦎🌈⭐️🍙🍨🏖️😎

Happy to see that this dude is still here roughly six years later. An earlier photo, before he got so beat up, was used on the cover of the Street Sweets zine last year 🌴🌴🌴

We all started 2020 with such optimism, thinking it would be a year of clarity (of perfect vision), but that all went to hell pretty quickly. For me, a lot of things changed. As I was moving out of my old small studio on Bowery, into my much larger studio in Brooklyn, I was also finishing up my work on Justin Bieber’s album Changes. Working on both of those things at the same time was crazy. The album came out early in 2020 and he and I were talking about working on the subsequent tour but it got cancelled unfortunately. As I was working on the Jumbo series of The Melty Misfits with eBay, I was driving up to see my partner Tom and we got in a bad accident and my beloved Scion was totaled. Spending the month of December in Hawaii was awesome because it had the added benefit of being quite deserted, but sadly that would be the last time I’d see my uncle Bobby. Sadly, we also took some of our last sailing trips with our buddy Malcolm earlier in the year. We didn’t know any of that at the time and I still managed to work on two very big commission paintings, paint a couple murals, and get a bunch of orders out with the help of my good buddy Rob.

We all started 2020 with such optimism, thinking it would be a year of clarity (of perfect vision), but that all went to hell pretty quickly. For me, a lot of things changed.
