Exhibiting @______pond______gallery Arkansas USA.05/22-08/08
Titled: ‘Outpost l’
This little blackbird will be Exhibitedat Pond Gallery, Arkansas, USA.
Recently I’ve been exploring ideas surrounding “future primitivism” — archetypal shelters, timeless forms, and objects that could belong equally to the distant past or an imagined future.
The wood is treated using Yakisugi, the Japanese technique of charring cedar to preserve it against weather, decay, and insects.
Burning the surface feels less like destruction and more like revelation — exposing something ancient held within the grain and fibres of the material. Perhaps ‘Time’?
Part shelter, part monument, part small creature.
Constructed from charred wood, steel and perched on organic elements- the sculpture exists quietly between nature, ritual, and design — somewhere between artifact and inhabitant.

“Here and Now”- the third year and third installation for @jiwajiwa.jp @hanarart.artfestival Yoshino in Nara -of a two-Tatami matsize experimental tea house project.
“Cladded in bubble wrap defines the ‘here and now’ - Nothing represents the fleeting moment than air caught between thumb and forefinger- the translucent skin that captures the slightest wind frames the autumn leaves as they change. Each pop releases the present, a soft architecture of time dissolving into air-
Except the children’s laughter “
Many thanks to @hanarart.artfestival , @jiwajiwa.jp @jiwajiwa @hyoyo_ikoma @spacedepartmentnara and @sononochi for the performance and interpretation and to @patrickljaimes for the video ☺️- now it all makes sense 🙂

2024 Central Glass International Design Competition’ Finalist (2nd)- theme ‘Toilet’
‘ General Relativity to Quantum Physics’
“For over 100 years, scientists have failed to find the “connection” between general physics (the study of the largest) and Quantum Mechanics (the study of the smallest). Perhaps we are asking the wrong question and that the connection between the two is through us and our ‘gut’ system.
By using the toilet as an ‘OBSERVATORY”, we can constantly view the wonders of the universe and be constantly reminded of our significance andinsignificance. This contemplation inspires meaning and puts our being from a healthy perspective. This positive attitude to our mind body, mind, and spirit, which in turn creates a healthy lifestyle and ultimately healthy microbes for the flourishing of the soil.-Creating better food for the body and the whole community.”

“Architecture as a tool to reconnect”—Eugene Soler’s ( @esoler )“tiny tea house” for Hanarart ( @hanarart.artfestival ) transforms tradition into a modern art form. This tea house opens a window to autumn’s beauty, encouraging appreciation of our surroundings.
While shooting footage for The Nature of Japanese Gardens documentary, I had a few conversations that have led to some other short videos. This one features Eugene discussing his Memory of Land project—a site-specific installation in Yoshino, Nara.
At just 1.8m x 1.8m, this contemporary tea house celebrates the season of autumn and the rituals of the Japanese tea ceremony. It’s a thoughtful exploration of relationships—with people, nature, and the present moment.

This installation in the center of Tokyo is part of the Urbanist Research Camp by @for_cities @arturbanism for Mitsubishi Jisho. The temporary installation incorporates soil into its structure. The very first casualty of urbanization is the removal of earth/ soil and our physical and mental connection to it. It seems that nature brought back into cities have decorative qualities where we are only allowed view it as if there’s a glass wall in between us. Our feet are what connects us to our planet- physically (and spiritually).
