Join me at the opening party for Eyes and Ears: A Survey of Visuals in Music 2020–2024, tomorrow at PNCA, from 5-8pm, here in PORTLAND. Proud to say I curated and designed the exhibit from the ground up. Tomorrow’s event is free and open to the public, see you there?
Lots of thanks are in order. First off, a massive thank you to all of the creatives who I’ve admired for so long but been too shy to reach out to. Thank you for being nice, for giving your time and supporting this exhibit with your work.
I LOVE MUSIC. It’s one of my favorite things in the world and I am constant in awe of artists who use it as a form of expression. I do not have a musical bone in my body but I’ve been blessed to work across this industry on so many wonderful projects over the past decade. Why do I love it? Music is accessible, people from all over the world can listen to an album and associate so many memories and experiences with a small 250x250 pixel thumbnail. Now I don’t do this for the tiny thumbnail lol I do it for the tangible moments where you can hear, feel and see the music, the community and the visual world carefully built around it. People working today in music making record packaging, music videos, tour merchandise, and show posters are creating some of the best work ever. Being able to showcase this body of work in a physical space is something that is important to me.
Big thank you to Kristin Rogers Brown for gifting me with this wonderful opportunity to curate an exhibit at this scale. Thank you to Noah for being such a passionate human and bringing your eye and energy to this exhibit. Big thank you to Marsha, Oliver and the wonderful install team at CCAC who took Zack’s render and made it all real. Thank you to Saba for holding this project down and moving it forward. Thank you to BOY BOY for creating such an important component of the show with the steel table and t-shirt display. I miss hosting public events and I’m so happy to share this one with you. I hope this is the first in a series of projects that focus on the overlap between music and design. That’s all for now, I hope you enjoy the show.

FISK for Nike x Nigo LO2 Air Force 1
Truly a dream project studying these Last Orgy 2 layouts from @nigo and @joniotakahashi from the 90s and bringing them back to life.
Nigo’s retrospective exhibit ‘From Japan with Love’ opens May 1 at the Design Museum in London
Nigo’s first take on the iconic Nike silhouette draws on his origin story and the magazine column he and Nike partner Jun Takahashi made famous in the early 1990s, titled LO2. Now a revered reference point in Japanese culture, LO2 was an outlet for Nigo and Jun to share their taste in fashion and design, setting the foundation for their landmark NOWHERE boutique in Tokyo’s Ura-Harajuku district. The influence of LO2 and NOWHERE are evident in Nigo’s first Air Force 1 silhouette, which is awash in Sail and Loyal Blue — color-matched to an original NOWHERE sign from the destination storefront.

Nowruz 1405: Bahar is a new 2-track 7-inch vinyl record by Rahill available for pre-order March 20 via FISK 🔊🌷
Preview of the track Yaar featured here
At a time when our world is more fractured than ever, may this record bring a small semblance of hope. By mixing past with present, Rahill weaves messages of angst, of optimism, that a new day will dawn upon Iran and the millions affected through decades of oppression. This project has been on our minds for quite some time. We’re excited to announce that Nowruz 1405: Bahar will be the first release of the new FISK Recordings imprint focused on the dispatch of limited edition 45’s.
I started working on the songs just before the war began. It was challenging to concentrate at a time of distress but channeling heavy emotions through music was heartening and gave me hope. This record is a tribute to one of my heroes, Kourosh Yaghmaie. I worked closely with my father, who collaborated with me on the lyrics, written intentionally in Farsi—the whole process has warmed my tender heart. I hope these songs can also bring joy and solace to the many of us who are in pain. As Nowruz is a rebirth and a triumph of light over darkness, may these songs serve as a light—a reminder of our resilience and unwavering spirit.
–Rahill
Bahar sprouted from conversations I had with Rahill around our mutual desire to create a soundtrack for our beloved ancient holiday, Nowruz. The goal of the project is to create more songs in our beautiful poetic language and pay homage to the many heroes that came before us. Publishing these two tracks and sharing music with the world feels especially important during this time of grieving. Creating cultural artifacts and sharing different facets of our complex cultures, past and present, has been a grounding source and feeling of interconnection. Thank you for this gift Rahill.
