Through the VR competition at Lembi and the XR Showcase across San Lorenzo, the HUB brought audiences face to face with new ways of inhabiting a story from the inside out.

Nei giorni scorsi, nel quartiere di San Lorenzo a Roma, si è tenuto Ru-mòre, un festival indipendente dedicato al cinema contemporaneo, al cortometraggio e alla sperimentazione audiovisiva. Un progetto che nasce soprattutto dall’idea di superare i confini del linguaggio cinematografico tradizionale e costruire connessioni vive tra autori, pubblico e industria.

Organizzato da 8 Production, con la direzione artistica di Laura Catalano e Giorgio Calogero e la direzione esecutiva di Silvio Giannini, il festival si è proposto come uno spazio aperto alle trasformazioni del cinema contemporaneo. Un cinema, dunque, che non si limita ai formati e ai codici più canonici, ma si espande verso forme ibride, sperimentali, in dialogo con la videoarte, la realtà virtuale e le nuove tecnologie dell’immagine.

Il festival ha ospitato una selezione di cortometraggi italiani e internazionali, oltre ad aree dedicate alla sperimentazione tecnologica, dove il pubblico ha potuto entrare in contatto con nuovi strumenti e linguaggi, esplorando modalità innovative di fruizione audiovisiva.

Infine, i talk, le masterclass e i momenti di confronto con professionisti del settore hanno offerto occasioni concrete per dialogare con l’industria, presentare idee, discutere pitch e ricevere feedback. Uno spazio prezioso, soprattutto per i giovani autori, per entrare in relazione con chi il cinema lo produce e lo distribuisce.

Noi di VD eravamo media partner di questa edizione e, durante la settimana di festival, abbiamo raccolto voci, impressioni e riflessioni per capire che cos’è davvero Ru-mòre e perché sono importanti spazi come questo.

This is our poster for CITY OF OWLS by @zhenia.kazankina !

I rearranged to a vertical layout the marvellous embroidered blanket done by @nasekomoevdushe and designed by @smirnovasasha and @avoirbanane that you can see in the trailer, which was conceived as a tapestry illustrating the different characters of the story.

It was adapted to the proportions of a film poster, cutting and pasting back the dozens of handmade figures on the canvas and then arranging the typography following hidden placement lines, mixing ancient handmade techniques with modern typography! 🪡⌨️

Back in 2022 my poster of "Happy New Year, Jim" made it in the "10 Best Posters of Cannes 2022" - will we make it again? Fingers crossed 🤞
