Typical Sunday during Prep 📚🩻

My weekends during board prep are mostly countless hours of studying and cleaning up around the house in between. ONE MORE WEEK and I can be in a completely dedicated study period when my current rotation ends! I’m not sure If I will do these types of videos or maybe weekly study compilations.. we shall see ✌🏻

For some context on this journey…

Medical Students must take USMLE Step 2 and DO students must also take COMLEX Level 2, before applying to residency during 4th year.

As you all know, my goal has been to match surgery for the last 13 years, but this comes with expectations. In relation to boards, just passing isn’t enough. Surgical applicants on average score around 250 on USMLE and 600+ on COMLEX. This aspect makes the next 7 weeks super important to ensure I reach my goal of matching into surgery.

This video shows my typical day during this intense time and I hope it gives you a little insight on what my life looks like. Thank you all for watching and I will see you next week!

LIVING THE DREAM! 🥼🩺

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been dreaming of this: being in medical school, rotating through the specialties, learning all about the intricacies of God’s gift that is the human body. I’m so grateful that my OBGYN rotation is so surgery heavy since I plan to apply for general surgery this year! Tonight I was able to deliver a baby, close a grade 2 perineal lac, throw subcutaneous sutures in a C/S, and close 2 patients with staples 🤘🏼

DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MED STUDENT 🥼🔪

Here’s a recap of a Friday during my first surgery rotation. I achieved one of my biggest milestones to date: SCRUBBING IN ON MY FIRST SURGERY. It was the coolest experience I’ve ever had. Anyone who knows me can say that I’ve been dreaming of being a surgeon since I was 11. That was confirmed on this day 1000x over. While I was in that operating room, chatting about anatomy with the surgeon as he disected layer by layer, I never felt more complete and at home. I cannot wait until the day when I am the surgeon and devoting every ounce of my being towards helping my patients. This WILL be my life, at any cost.
