We are delighted to announce that the winner of the 2024 Natural Stone Awards New Build Cladding Rainscreen category (sponsored by Sandberg) is Auckland Castle Faith Museum.

This project, delivered as a collaboration between Durham County Council and Historic England, and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, is an extension to the Grade I listed Castle and is sited along the line of a medieval retaining wall of the original castle complex.

The Judges commented: “The visual impact is impressive and a superb showcase for the warm Northumbrian stone from Dunhouse. There are only a few areas where there is a differential in run off, and overall, the quality control has been very good indeed.”

We are over the moon to share that the National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded the Beckford's Tower Trust £3,087,000!

This vital funding will ensure that we can fully repair and enhance our unique heritage attraction, Beckford’s Tower. The works to be carried out include the restoration of Beckford’s fascinating Grotto, and revitalising the museum to better tell the story of Beckford’s life, relationships and involvement with the transatlantic slave trade. By improving access and transforming the museum to meet the needs of a range of modern visitors, this funding will secure an exciting - and sustainable - future for our Tower.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everybody who has supported and donated to this project. We look forward to updating you as to the progress of the renovation works over the coming months! 🗼 🙏
