Transformer continues its exhibition partnership with the LINE DC @thelinehotel to present a compelling new body of work bringing together two interconnected photographic series, "Icons and Flow." @jac_re_dc @rasphotocontact

"Icons," developed through a collaboration between creative director John Coplen and photographer Rachel A Sale, reimagines culturally iconic images through the reversal of gender - not as imitation, but as disruption. In parallel, "Flow," created by Rachel A Sale, centers on women who embody resilience not as an abstract ideal, but as a daily, lived practice.

Together, Icons & Flow expands the conversation around the body: not as something to be redefined or disrupted, but as a site of endurance, awareness, and lived truth.

Join us for the closing reception of "A Distinct Terroir," an exhibition in partnership with the Friendship Heights Alliance showcasing a bounty of artists and creative styles from the DC area through the lens of our FlatFile collection. @friendshipheightsalliance

CLOSING RECEPTION:
📆 Wednesday, May 20
🕐️ 5PM - 7PM
📍Pavillion Pop-Up at The Heights Lobby

‘Terroir’ refers to the set of factors that influence the unique character growth of a subject, including all the environmental factors that morph its characteristics and quality. It’s a holistic concept that considers not just the environment and climate, but also the topography, biodiversity, and human impact on a region. The DMV’s terroir, from its political importance to its Mid-Atlantic and Appalachian landscape, to its rich immigrant community, inspires each artist in a different way, making our local artists’ work distinctly topical.

Throughout the run of the A Distinct Terroir, Transformer has presented artist-led community programming, engaging audiences with Wednesday evening artist conversations, and through hands-on, interactive workshops presented monthly on Saturdays. These will included workshops on printmaking, mixed-media collage, and more that engaged audiences of all ages in the creation of their own artworks.

"Icons" by Rachel A Sale and John Coplen, and "Flow" by Rachel A Sale is now on view in the G Level Lobby of the LINE DC @thelinehotel! Thanks to all who attended the opening reception last week and @thelinehotel for the continued collaboration!

@jac_re_dc @rasphotocontact

Together, “Icons” & “Flow” expands the conversation around the body: not as something to be redefined or disrupted, but as a site of endurance, awareness, and lived truth.

NEXT EVENT:
Exhibition PRIDE Celebration
Rooftop at The LINE
Weds. June 10 | 5 - 7pm
