So….a few years ago i stopped wanting to make art, a big reason was “art depression” i had transitioned into digital art a long time ago, and it was great, i was having fun. But then things like Midjourney and other AI apps started coming out and all of a sudden, what was once a creative process, turned into writing a sentence and then letting the algorithm create that sentence for you. Don’t get me wrong, it’s easy to fall into the AI trap. Need inspiration, don’t know how to draw, have no graphic experience, you can make your sentences “prompts” a reality. But where does it end? Now that everyone, no matter if they are an artist, stripper, mecanic or brain surgeon, can all of a sudden create art, post it and call it their own and call themselves a graphic designer. Where does that leave the creatives that spent their lives and money learning to draw, paint, code, compose music, play instruments? Where are we as a civilization when we start over valuing laziness and charging clients for something that we truly didn’t have any part in doing other than writing a fucking sentence into an app. So….that shit depressed me, And i stopped doing what i love to do, because fuck it, who cares.

Well, recently i started thinking, fuck AI. AI, cant physically paint a picture, make anything tangible that someone can use. Let’s see AI make me a coffee table, a dresser, a chair, paint me a picture that i don’t have to use a TV to see. And im sure, that time will come, sooner than later. We are destined to destroy ourselves, over and over again. We tend to not ever learn from our past, so fuck it! In the mean time in going g to start painting again. Small things, for a while so i can get the hang of paint again, of pencils. Small artworks. Force myself to create.

One a day till i get board and do something else. Cheers 🍻

I will be competing in the Highland Games this weekend @ Floyd Lamb Park during the yearly Scottish Festival. If you guys dont have anything better to do come out and enjoy some Scottish shenanigans. FOOD, MUSIC, GAMES for the kids and me throwing boulders, hammers and tree trunks against other world champion barbarians. The festival is always a great time. Bring a blanket, cooler and come enjoy the day and have a drink or two with me.

Day 2 (10/2/21) my good friends lost their little “Peggy” not too long ago, so this is for them. She was a sweet, happy girl and lived a long and wonderful life filled with love and amazing treats. May we all be as lucky as she was.

Day 8 (11/08/2020) Green Space with hints of Red. The result of having no inspiration to aspire to or idea pollution...but...having a folder of foldable ideas to put back together. Perception, like emptiness is really the idea of being full of hunger...i know!...so...Just turn your volume up and enjoy the unrecorded sounds of a white-rumped sandpiper courting a flame-colored tanager, so silly their conversation, but wait till the end, you wont believe it!!! Day 7 (11/07/2020) Uncle Sam. Lets talk Branding. The slightly aggressive, goatee toting Uncle Sam came into being during the war of 1812. Loosely based one Samuel Wilson, an entrepreneur and meat packer/supplier in Troy, NY. In his youth he first served in the continental army and then received one of the first ever military contracts to supply all the soldier meat rations of pork and beef for one year during the war of 1812. Over time, and quite a few artistic renditions, this Yankee Doodle became the popular symbol of the US government in American culture, and a manifestation of patriotic emotion. His image (the one we are all familiar with) was re-tooled and re-designed many times over the years with the current lovable uncle by JM Flagg in 1917. It has been the cornerstone visual for the army’s recruitment campaign since WWI, the only costume rental for 4th of July, and, the strong symbol of American government standing stern and shaking that finger with intent. Which leads me to Uncle Benjermin...a founding father, inventor, drunk, womanizer, but all alround lovable idealist who’s words and pen changed this great country, along with his rambunctious band of cohorts, for the better. Now....this isnt a post about politics or party lines or any of that shit...just me blowing some shit up in different art styles.

Its simple, its respectful, and it shows that you are greeting them with open hand (eg. not carrying a knife, which if you didnt do back in the day, something was up and people became suspicious) lets greet some people! Day 6 (11/06/2020) Crown of Thorns.I must say, this iPad is the SHHHITTT. Procreate is like a scaled down tablet version of Photoshop but as i learn it and get used to it, it’s 100% more intuitive.. .quite robust... Although i wish there was a way to tell how big your brush is before placing the pen down. ANYWAY, from here on out im going to try and set time limits (30 min) on these so that i don’t get too wrapped up in this shit. Believe me i would rather spend my days just making this kind of thing than doing anything else.

One more thing...your beautiful, your smart, you are loved. Try this today, think about someone that has done you wrong in the past, maybe this person isn’t around anymore, maybe they are, but just think about them, see their face in your mind, imagine them standing right in front of you. Now imagine you reaching out and giving them a huge hug, holding them close against you. And once you see that clearly - tell them “i release the pain of betrayal and move forward free from resentment or bitterness” cheers!
