What is drawing in the 21st century when confronted with new technologies? Can mark-making manifest the tensions these new tools pose to traditional forms of image making? How does history affect one’s practice and how can materials manifest these personal and historical relationships?

ISG (I See Generative) is an artistic framework developed by @ognyveli Iskra Velitchkova to investigate distance as a defining condition of contemporary perception. Distance today is no longer purely physical. Just as trains and airplanes once redefined proximity, our immersion in systems of information, data, and computation is reshaping how we relate to culture, to others, and to ourselves.
We live surrounded by systems that measure, filter, and compress experience. Books, films, music, and even relationships are evaluated through metrics and databases. Everything appears closer than ever, and yet it becomes increasingly difficult to understand what closeness actually means. Close to what? To whom? To oneself?
ISG does not seek to resolve this tension. It takes it as a starting point. In contrast to a world driven by acceleration, optimization, and immediacy, ISG proposes an opposing gesture: to reintroduce distance in order to see. Distance not as separation, but as a place to stay.
Within this framework, generative art is not a tool for producing images, but a way of establishing a dialogue. When Iskra builds systems and becomes surprised by them, a second self emerges: a parallel will. It is her, but not entirely. Not her, yet governed by rules she has set. This displacement opens a new mode of artistic creation, one where authorship is shared with something that neither fully obeys nor fully resists.
When a human figure emerges from a generative system, the question is not whether it is correctly represented. The question is what distance exists between that apparition and the real, and whether that distance might bring us closer to something essential. Can structured chance reveal something human? Can machines, paradoxically, make us more human? What if technology is another form of nature speaking to us? Could art be one of the languages through which we learn to listen?

Deep Blue v Kasparov is a series of data sculptures immortalising the historical moment when Garry Kasparov faced the IBM computer Deep Blue in a set of two six-game matches in 1996 and 1997.

In May 1997, something subtle but irreversible happened. On a chessboard in New York City, a machine defeated the reigning world champion. Not in speed. In thought.
We are honored to present:
Deep Blue v Kasparov by @_nonfigurativ_
A Fellowship+ @artxcode.io release.
Kasparov had beaten IBM’s Deep Blue in 1996 (4–2).
A year later, the rematch told a different story. After six games, the upgraded machine won 3½–2½. History shifted, quietly.
Kasparov resigned after just 19 moves in the final game. It wasn’t only a loss, it was a threshold moment. For the first time, a machine overcame a human champion in a domain synonymous with intellect.
The real question was never whether machines would surpass human calculation, but how we renegotiate our relationship with technology beyond zero-sum competition. These works render decision itself visible, navigable, and shared.
“Deep Blue v Kasparov” is a series of 12 data sculptures that examine this historical transition through spatial representation. Each piece (which represents one of the games they played in the period from 96-97) converts algebraic chess notation into three-dimensional form, where the xy-plane represents the board's 64 squares, while the z-axis shows the progression of moves through time.
In addition to the minimalistic web of lines representing the actual moves of the game, the other possible moves each piece could have made are drawn out by a less legible pattern of particles. Small “explosions” of these same particles are emitted from the positions where a piece was captured. Using JavaScript and WebGL, the sculptures create browser-based interactive spaces where viewers can explore the games' evolving structures and examine the intense fight between two minds of a different substrate.

📣 ARTXCODE is proud to welcome Bjørn Staal (@_nonfigurativ_ ) to our roster.
Bjørn is an Oslo-based artist and software developer whose work explores the dynamic intersections between computational systems, human perception, and behavior.
With over a decade of experience at the forefront of experimental art and technology, Bjørn co-founded the acclaimed studio Void in 2015, where he developed large-scale interactive installations that have international recognition. Since 2023, he has focused on his independent practice, examining how algorithms shape our understanding of what it means to be human in an age where increasing amounts of our agency are outsourced to technological systems.
Working with JavaScript, GLSL, WebGL, and AI frameworks, Bjørn creates work that spans generative visual systems, robotic installations, and interactive experiences—seamlessly bridging digital and physical realms. His practice combines technical virtuosity with philosophical inquiry, transforming computational processes into meditations on autonomy, perception, and the evolving relationship between humans and machines.
By joining ARTXCODE, Bjørn will collaborate with our team on upcoming exhibitions, curated projects, and collector placements, contributing to our mission of advancing the cultural conversation around algorithmic and generative art.
We are honored to support his vision as he continues to push the boundaries of computational art and explore the profound questions at the heart of our technological age.
Welcome, Bjørn. 🖥️✨

This past week ARTXCODE presented ‘No Me Olvides’ by @ix.shells with @rozmerel at @artbasel ‘s inaugural Zero 10 sector in partnership with @fellowship.xyz
The work draws on 19th-century archives of women artists from Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America, connecting their overlooked histories with Ix’s Afro-Caribbean and Latin American heritage. Using TouchDesigner, Notch, LiDAR, and generative sound, the work became a large-scale interactive installation where visitors’ movements triggered shifting fields of light and audio, a sensorial bridge between erased histories and living code.
The response from fair goers was something we will never forget. Thank you for all your questions, support, and joy.
We’re thrilled and deeply honored to be part of Art Basel Miami Beach 2025, joining the inaugural edition of Zero 10, the fair’s new platform dedicated to the art of the digital era.
Curated by @eli_schein , Zero 10 takes its name from “0,10,” Kazimir Malevich’s 1915 exhibition that marked a turning point in Modern art. Echoing that spirit of experimentation, Zero 10 highlights the artists, galleries, and studios pushing the boundaries of creativity at the intersection of art and technology today.
At Fellowship, our focus is on artists who expand the language of image-making and rethink how artworks are created, presented, and experienced across emerging media. To see this field take center stage at Art Basel is a reflection of how far digital art has come, and how much potential still lies ahead. 🙌
For the event we'll be presenting works by @ix.shells, whose generative compositions reveal the poetic potential of code and computation. Her practice embodies the curiosity, openness, and innovation that drive our program and the larger conversation around the future of art.
We can’t wait to share this experience with the community at Art Basel Miami Beach, December 5–7, 2025 🫡
