Last year was truly transformative! ✨ My partner and I had the incredible opportunity to meet the visionary Susannah Tantemsapya at the E+C Pavilion's Southeast Asia debut during CCAT Conference 2024 at Bangkok 1899.

We forged lifelong friendships, learned so much, and were utterly captivated by the spirit of Bangkok 1899 itself!

This historic building, beautifully reimagined by Susannah, is so much more than a space - it's a living, breathing testament to how history and a fierce commitment to a sustainable future can perfectly come together. From its eco-conscious design to the heartwarming community work done through Na Cafe (@naprojectsgroup), every corner tells a story of innovation, compassion, and green living.

We were so inspired, we had to share their full journey! Swipe through to get a glimpse of this amazing place, and then dive deeper into our full article. You won't want to miss Susannah's incredible story and the powerful impact of Bangkok 1899.

🌱 Introducing the Creatives for Climate Action - Thailand (CCAT) 2024 Toolkit!

We are excited to launch the CCAT Toolkit: a comprehensive, easy-to-use and practical guide and database supporting Thailand’s festival and event industry’s green transition.

This bilingual resource includes practical self-assessment tools, actionable tips and contact details of partners, such as sustainable vendors, venues, brands and consultants that can help event organizers to reduce their environmental impact. The CCAT Toolkit also aims to facilitate knowledge sharing between European and Thai cultural practitioners to exchange best practices for sustainability.

Explore the document to gain practical guidance for every step of your sustainability journey. Discover the toolkit below - use it, share it and let’s accelerate integrating climate action into our work! 🙌

On April 13, we co-organized California’s First Policy Forum on the Culture Global Stocktake as part of #LAClimateWeek2026 🌇🌱

Artists, designers, cultural producers, community organizers, consultants and academics gathered at the Thai Community Development Center (Thai CDC) for a half a day of productive conversations, real policy work and an abundant selection of vegetarian/vegan fare.

Following the delivery of the first public draft of the Culture Global Stocktake for Climate Action, this forum brought together Angelenos to collectively assess policy gaps, stress-test emerging recommendations while aligning on pathways to embed culture across mitigation, adaptation, Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) and climate finance agendas.

The room engaged with ideas surrounding funding, industry accountability, green space, indigenous wisdom, storytelling and community repair with intersectional themes such as:
✧ Artist stipend models and multi-year community funding
✧ Nature access as mental-health infrastructure
✧ Joy, play and cultural belonging as tools for climate resilience
✧ In LA, younger generations, industry transformations and community spaces offer hope

Thank you to everyone who participated, contributing their knowledge, tools and lived experience to this collective process ✌️

Organized by @creativemigration @entertainmentculturepavilion @laclimateweek. Hosted by @thaicdc. Special thanks to our food & beverage sponsors @cafetropicalsunset @plantbasedtreaty @liquiddeath!

🌍 Happy Earth Day! 🌍

Today we take a moment to listen more closely to the world around us. In honor of today, we're looking back at the work of our 2020 artist-in-residence, Scott Kildall (@bio.symphonic), whose site-specific installation “Unnatural Language” did exactly that.

Using electronic sensors measuring air quality, noise pollution, water quality and soil health, Scott transformed Bangkok 1899's (@bangkok1899) outdoor space into a living, breathing soundscape: where environmental distress became something you could actually hear and feel. The sculptures in the exhibition were built from reclaimed wood, recycled auto parts and scavenged plastic, a reflection of Bangkok's reuse economy and a reminder that sustainability is already embedded in the city's culture.

In March 2020, the COVID pandemic was just beginning – Scott’s residency was cut short, forcing him to travel back home very quickly. To adapt to the changes, the exhibition turned into an international Zoom exhibition, where it was hosted from two different locations, Scott’s home in San Francisco and Bangkok 1899.

This Earth Day, let's ground ourselves in our environment and recommit to caring for our planet.

Rest as Resistance for Artists & Culture Workers x With Love Projects

What an incredible night! ✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us for the “Leaders of Tomorrow” Exhibition Opening on March 6 at Bangkok 1899.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the evening spotlighted the power of women in art and public space, beginning with the official reveal of a vibrant collaborative mural by street artists WARIS (@waris_msv) and Stine Hvid (@stinehvid) at Benjakitti Park’s Futsal Court.

Followed by the mural reveal, Bangkok 1899 held the exhibition opening with limited edition prints and one of a kind canvases produced for this occasion. Guests explored the artists’ works in the Gallery Room, picked up spray paint cans to paint a collective mural in the garden, enjoyed a live DJ session by JASMINUM (@j.asminum) and celebrated creativity, collaboration and the women shaping urban art – all while enjoying food and drinks by @naprojectsgroup 💫

Bangkok 1899 hosted the artists in the Artist Residency during their stay in Bangkok. Organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Denmark in Thailand (@dkinthailand).

We’re excited to announce our upcoming joint-residency at Bangkok 1899 in March!

She has painted internationally across Europe and Asia, and is also the founder of the street art festivals Roi Et Street Art and Canal Art Roi Et.

Stine Hvid (@stinehvid) is a Danish visual artist, educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Design in Visual Communication and Edinburgh College of Art. Looking back on our previous artist-in-residence, Ekaterina Korchagina’s installation for @bangkokdesignweek 2026.

“Point of Peace” is a temporary urban oasis by Fall Studio, a landscape architecture and urban design practice founded by Ekaterina, whose work centers on nature-driven design interwoven with artistic expression.

In a world of constant chaos and crisis, the installation proposed a space to pause, listen inward, gather together and breathe deeply. Conceived as a contemporary sanctuary in the heart of Bangkok, it offered a moment of clarity within turbulence. A soft circular platform, wrapped in dense native greenery, formed an intimate oasis where people can rest, play and reconnect. Its round form naturally encouraged encounter and dialogue, echoing prehistoric gatherings around the fire. The planting created a protective cocoon that visually and acoustically softened the city, letting noise dissolve into calm.

The project directly addressed rising urban temperatures and the escalating waste crisis, asking how a small, reversible intervention can briefly transform a piece of hard infrastructure into a shared refuge while improving the local microclimate. For Point of Peace, Fall Studio investigated urban microclimates, local ecosystems and passive cooling strategies and collaborated with local partners to work with reused materials such as plastic waste and discarded fabrics. Together, these components formed a lightweight, demountable “green room” that left no permanent trace.

At its center, the soft circular platform made of recycled materials functioned simultaneously as landscape and furniture: a place to sit, lie down, play, host small events or simply rest in shade and fine mist. By inviting visitors to slow down and share this space with strangers, Point of Peace offered a brief, tangible experience of collective comfort and resilience within the ongoing turbulence of the city.

Congratulations on bringing this amazing vision to life Ekaterina! Find out more about Point of Peace on @fall___studio.

Instagram Stories geheim ansehen
