A new track entitled ‘Skunkworks’ I produced alongside the don @alixperez1985 is out today on his ‘Sabotage’ LP project on @1985music. We started the tune at his studio in New Zealand when I was over there on tour, and then finished it off remotely towards the end of last year. My first venture back into 140 territory for a minute, hope you’re feeling it. 🦨

The album also features collabs with @trimtali @cescomusicuk and @morehijinx - vinyl stocks are already low so don’t hang about if you want a physical copy!

Finally getting around to posting about this 12” on @gd4ya. It was an honour to work with @lewiselb on this tune, which actually ended up developing into two seperate mixes in the end! He’s a big inspiration, and for me undoubtedly one of UK underground’s unsung heroes. I remember buying the Myron remix after hearing it on an EZ tape when I was still at school! The vinyl flew out - big up everyone who supported the release, thank you. Have to also thank @jamesbreakage who helped us on the mix, @viveksystem for his version, @drumzofthesouth for the photography and the legend @beauteneightsevenmastering as always. Finally, a special shout to El-B’s old man Bud who niced us up with some super smooth flute & sax!

Great photo taken by the talented @wizualnystanczyk at @audioriver festival in Poland recently, whilst hosting for @djmarkym. Too good not to post, I’m sure I’d get far more clicks/likes/engagement posting a video of me MCing but it’s my page so I shall do as I please!

Thanks again to all those who joined us at @hereldn last Friday for @hvywght_ldn for a truly memorable session. Always really look forward hosting a @calibresignature set, this was extra special - an extended 4 hour journey on the mighty @sinaisound rig. Accompanied by the amazingly talented @melissa__santamaria on visuals to top off the experience. One that will live long in my memory - honestly one of the best nights I’ve been involved in for quite some time. Big up @anton_simmy & the rest of the HVYWGHT team for bringing it together, & not forgetting @commodough @carre__carre @beatricem._bait for their sets too.

DCLSFD006 is out today. I wanted to give some insight into these productions, which were inspired by some of my favourite drum & bass producers. Respect to the architects! @stevedigital & Spirit (RIP), @totalscience69, @mrgoldie, @brinkstfiles, & the might Marcus Intalex (RIP).

DJ Randall. This guy was already a hero of mine long before I’d met him. The AWOL tapes changed my life - sounds cliché, but it’s true and I know I’m not the only one who feels that way! To be honest I already knew Randall was different gravy before the AWOL sets with MC GQ. I had a Yaman mixtape & an Edge set too in ‘93 - even at 13 years old I was drawn in by his mixing & selection. Feel fortunate to have witnessed many more amazing sets as I started going out raving & seeing it in person was even more special - he had a swagger to his mixing & an effortless sense of timing. Always brought the next tune in at the right time - never too soon & never too late! That’s an art in itself. He also knew his records inside out. Invented the double drop, but his were always classy & never obvious or played out. He also invented the 16/32 bar ‘tease’ that lots of people copied after a reload. The man could mash up a One Nation with 3 MCs then roll down to Metalheadz & play a totally different box of tunes an hour later. It’s important to add even though he could switch it up depending on where he was, he always stuck to his guns. Secondly, I have to talk about being lucky enough to get to know Randall as a person - what a character. He had time for everyone. I noticed him recently chatting to younger producers backstage giving them advice and feedback, in the same room there were big name DJs bowing to him. He had everyone’s respect - he’d earnt it.

The outpouring of tributes since his passing is testament to the impact he had made over the years. 🇬🇧 > 🌍

So then, @1985music at the @roundhouseldn last Saturday. Seemed like a bit of a blur for a couple days afterwards, impossible to process it on the day. But now looking back with more clarity the whole day honestly couldn’t have gone any better! Inspiring to see what @alixperez1985 has built over the last 6/7 years. All the DJs and vocalists came correct. Special thanks to @missaim @undivideevents @rob_ts2w for all their hard work behind the scenes. Salute to all the party people who travelled from far & wide to make this one to remember. Nice to tick such a prestigious venue off the bucket list - what a gaff! Finally shout out to @samiktay on the 📷.

I’d like to take time to thank all of those who continue to support my musical endeavours - 2023 has been a rewarding year for me with some truly memorable moments. (Check my recent posts for the highlights!) Big up all the promoters who’ve booked me, DJs I’ve hosted sets for, and MCs I’ve worked alongside. Secondly, a special salute to my agent @clivemill and @aliciawhite.88 for holding it down impeccably! I’d finally like to send my gratitude to those who’ve supported my label @declassified.info - the project is very close to my heart & all the messages of encouragement fuel me to keep creating & push a different path away from MCing that I’m primarily known for.
