Big year, I was awarded a PADC Diamond Skull Photographer of the Year and the Carillon WA Fashion Photographer of the Year. At the time I was 3 years into freelancing full time, fierce and determined to ‘prove’ myself to an industry I didn’t feel I belonged to. I honed my ability to be versatile (for a small creative community), technically armed to take on any challenge/creative brief that came my way and delivered with a perspective not often found in an industry with so few women behind the camera. Celebrating those achievements back then wasn’t something I fully allowed myself to do, I was so focused on looking forward and how I could be better. Looking back it’s nice to take a moment and appreciate how far I’ve come, the talented creatives I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside and all the amazing people I have met along the way ✨

Thrilled to share that our short film Becoming Aurelio has officially been selected for the 2025 Santa Fe International Film Festival @santafeintlfilmfest

It’s an absolute privilege to share Aurelio’s story internationally and continue his legacy, especially after his sudden passing earlier this year.

Special thanks to @pauloconnorinsta @beautifulpicturesaust and the incredible crew for bringing this project to life.

The film will be screened in Santa Fe on Friday, October 17. @variety have announced the festival lineup, including Guillermo Del Toro’s “Frankenstein”.

Aurelio it has been an absolute privilege to be a part of your world…an extraordinary designer, artist, creative. Grateful for our friendship, it means more than you’ll ever know…as a young photographer, you gave me an opportunity to be part of the WA creative community all those years ago. The greatest honour was when I called you a little over a year ago with an idea to direct a short film about your story and you said I would love that and couldn’t think of anyone better to tell my story…what an absolute privilege my friend, you truly are ‘the golden one’ ✨ May you rest in peace, love you 🕊️🤍 My thoughts are with @pauloconnorinsta and the Costarella family xx
