Nature enters @copenhagenairport 🌷

In Pier E at Copenhagen Airport, artist @frederik_nystrup_larsen (b. 1992) presents CPH Flora, a series of five site-specific works that draw on the plant life growing in the landscapes surrounding the airport. Weeds and wildflowers from cracks in the asphalt and along the airport’s edges are brought into the terminal and translated into painting.

The works are created on discarded base panels from air cargo containers, allowing the material’s own marks and history to remain visible. This reuse of industrial surfaces reflects the meeting of nature and infrastructure that defines the artworks.

CPH Flora introduces a moment of pause, an encounter with nature within the constant movement and transit of the airport. Pier E will open in May, 2026.

The project has been realized in collaboration with @creatorprojects.

Video and photography by Simon Knudsen (@simonknuds). With thanks to @v1gallery.

Love to see our CEO @marie_nipper selected as a jury member of the 2026 International Selectors Committee at this year’s @lumen_prize, a global award celebrating the best art created with technology.

This year marks the 15th edition of the prize. The open call is now live, and winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in November at Kunstsilo Museum in Norway.

COVER REVEAL ▫️

We met the dynamic and married duo of @creatorprojects gracing our cover in their Copenhagen office where we revealed the cover. They spoke to RUM about working with artists such as Alicja Kwade and Superflex and not least shaping the new Copenhagen Triennale in 2027

Full story in our issue out now ▫️

WE ARE FAMILY ▫️

A new edition of RUM International is out and we can’t wait to show you.
This issue revolves around family in its many forms: the one we are born into, the one we build ourselves, and the one we choose through work, friendship, and shared passions. Across continents, crafts, and generations, the stories in this issue show how creative life is rarely a solo act.
It is nurtured through dialogue, loyalty, and love.

Whether it is a thriving community of Copenhagen creatives who challenge and support one another, a modernist dream house by architect Mogens Lassen that has been home to four generations, or a newly rebuilt summer house by the sea designed to gather the whole family, the homes, studios, and workshops we visit in this issue all speak of strong bonds.

On the cover is the couple behind Copenhagen art agency Creator Projects, Marie & Simon, partners in life and professionally, who are joining forces to lead a major cultural undertaking.
Meet them in this issue. Enjoy!

My heart is still full from the opening last week of my biggest work to date OCEAN KNIGHT in Esbjerg, Denmark ❤️🇩🇰 There are a lot of people I have to thank for putting this insane project together over the past two years: first of all the commissioners @creatorprojects @esbjerg_kommune that believed in my vision for this unconventional massive sculpture; my studio team & right hand woman Raj Sandhu @raj_sand7 who diligently supported all the ins & outs of this project every step of the way; the incredible metal artisans who cast every piece of this mammoth by hand led by Anaga Sanchez; the talented light designers at @lightingdesigncollective with @mahdisaa at the helm; the engineers, painters, 3D modelers, and many more. People don’t realize how complex it is to make art in public space, especially works that are meant to last forever (and ones that the public can actually use!). So this is a BIG HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped me along the way. I’m indebted to you all 🙏🙏🙏🙇🙏🙏🙏 #moniraalqadiri #oceanknight #esbjerg #denmark

INVITATION 👀

LOOKLOOK is pleased to present ‘Shadow Dancers’, a solo exhibition by artist Philip Dufva (@philipdufva), curated by @effyedelsten. We are happy to invite you to the opening on Thursday, the 5th of February, from 5 to 7 pm at Borgergade 17B.

For the exhibition Shadow Dancers, freestanding plexiglass panels are held within a wooden structure. Grooves are cut into the surface with sharp tools, recalling the printmaker’s workshop. The image, however, is not intended to be fixed on a two-dimensional surface, nor is it meant to be reproduced. For Dufva, etching becomes a physical act of inscription – an attempt to assert presence through gesture.

Subtle etched lines appear and disappear as light shifts and the viewer’s position changes.

Encountered from the street, the works become part of the urban rhythm, creating layers of depth and overlapping views, blurring the boundary between sculpture and space. The works register bodily presence rather than depict it, revealing how architecture unconsciously shapes bodily movement in public space.

The exhibition will be on view 24/7 from the 5th of February throughout the spring.

Philip Dufva (b. 1993, Stockholm) lives and works in Copenhagen. He holds an MFA (2023) from the Royal Institute of Fine Arts in Stockholm. Working with drawing, sculpture, and installation, his practice engages with questions of belonging, queerness, and the politics of public space, revealing cracks in dominant narratives.

📍LOOKLOOK is a window exhibition space by Creator Projects, curated by Efrat Edelsten, located at Borgergade 17B, Copenhagen.

Last chance to catch DOLLHOUSE – our window exhibition by Laura Julie Brage (@aoaatelier), curated by @effyedelsten

On view until January 30, this sculptural installation has transformed our windows at Borgergade 17B throughout the fall and winter. Laura’s installation has given us glimpses and fragments of scenes with characters embodied as rabbits, butterflies, and horses, forming a fantastical dollhouse and sparking our imagination, as Laura Julie Brage also points out: “The inhabitants are strangers to my world. I catch a glimpse of their shiny shoes, leopard legs, and bunny ears when they stick out for a cigarette. I imagine them hopping back inside, riding unicorns, eating red berries, chewing Barbie bubblegum”.

We’ve truly enjoyed having the dollhouse inhabit our windows these past months — thank you to everyone who stopped by, tagged us, or simply took a moment to reflect.

Stay tuned — we’re already looking forward to revealing what’s next in our LOOKLOOK windows

DRUMROLL 🥁 And it has finally been unveiled! Standing 8 meters tall, my biggest sculpture ever OCEAN KNIGHT is finally open to the public in Esbjerg - Denmark today! Based on the shape of my favorite microscopic plankton (dinoflagellate) that resembles a Knight’s helmet, it’s built like a small chapel that you can walk into & sit inside 🪑With hundreds of holes piercing its skin, the porous sculpture can be experienced in two different ways in the day & night: during the day light spills from every direction inside its dark interior creating a mysterious atmosphere, and in the night the opposite happens: a gradient of light from the interior beams onto the outside lighting up its surroundings. In essence, this light interplay mimics the bioluminescence of the plankton itself. The red color of the sculpture also refers to the “red tide”: when these microscopic creatures suddenly turn red and suck all the oxygen out of the sea water and kill other animals. The work serves as a warning about the looming climate crisis that awaits us. It also blends nicely with giant red tanker boats floating around the ocean behind it. Come to Esbjerg to see this new mini landmark! It was a monster project to put together, and I hope the locals & visitors of this town enjoy it for years and decades to come ❤️🥰❤️ #OCEANKNIGHT #moniraalqadiri #Esbjerg #denmark #publicart

It was a monster project to put together, and I hope the locals & visitors of this town enjoy it for years and decades to come ❤️🥰❤️ #OCEANKNIGHT #moniraalqadiri #Esbjerg #denmark #publicart

As we step into the new year, we’re excited to shine even brighter with Pipilotti Rist’s vibrant installation at the new DMJX campus in Aarhus. ✨

Her site-specific, multi-channel video work, Earth Lights and Ping-Pong with the Sun (2020), transforms the space with coordinated projections, shimmering curtains, a disco ball, and immersive lighting — now even more radiant thanks to upgraded projectors. The new models bring higher brightness and improved technical performance, ensuring the installation will shine for years to come.
Rist, internationally renowned for her pioneering exploration of moving images, inspires reflection on our role as active, evolving forces shaping the world — much like journalism itself. Her work brings wonder, creativity, and new perspectives to the heart of the campus.

Initiated and curated by Creator Projects, in collaboration with Kollision and Arkitema Architects, this installation supports a dynamic, social, and stimulating environment for learning and innovation.

Here’s to a new year full of light, creativity, and inspiration. 🌟

They say anticipation is the greatest joy — but we’re sure the joy will be just as big when Monira Al Qadiri’s sculpture is finally revealed at Esbjerg Harbour next year.
For now, here are a few final teasing glimpses. One detail hints at a glowing element within the work, which will shine beautifully in the winter darkness — especially during the January unveiling after dark. The sculpture is now wrapped and on its way to Esbjerg.
The final image shows the installation site during a flood — a reminder that nature always has the final say. The shifting tides and winter floods at the harbour echo Al Qadiri’s fascination with the sea and its forces, making this site a natural home for her work.

We can’t wait to share the full reveal with you in the new year to come.
Happy holidays from all of us at Creator Projects!
