Over several months in 2023, I collaborated with the healthcare communications agency Fishawack in their significant rebranding initiative, transforming into Avalere Health. This marked the integration of 19 acquired healthcare agencies under a single unified identity.

Working within a global multi-disciplinary branding team, my role as a UI designer was to assist in bring the evolving brand identity to life and showcase the vast capabilities offered by the new company by creating a cohesive and visually engaging web presence, extending from page layouts, to interactive details, to sourcing imagery and applying colour treatments. I worked across the design of the agency’s new website and associated web platforms.

From the archive: I art directed my own band False Advertising’s Brainfreeze album campaign, which was released back in 2019 with Alcopop!. The album’s release was supported by PRS Momentum Funding.

After developing the concept, the band created all of the campaign elements in-house, which included precariously simultaneously filming and photographing a moving album cover. The concept was also extended for the artwork for each single, music videos, LP and CD designs, an exclusive embroidered apron, a custom stick of rock, a website, social assets.. you name it, we did it! We even got in Kerrang (with the help of @goodasgoldgroupuk) who made a big deal of our DIY-ness.

Aside from the main bits - we worked with the brilliant photographer Nat Wood, who shot all the campaign’s press photos which matched perfectly with the look and feel of the campaign. We also worked with the awesome illustrator @tommings who brought the ice cream concept to life across a t-shirt design and stickers.

@vitlhealth is a wellbeing platform offering personalised vitamins and supplement subscriptions to help busy people improve their health.

I worked collaboratively with them last year to advise on and refine areas of their web user experience, including the checkout, payment journey and membership area.

I also assisted in an overhaul of the existing product description page, aiming to enhance the visual appeal, introduce more comprehensive information and portray the product in a more inspirational light which would then in-turn improve conversion. The new page was A/B tested alongside the old one and saw a positive effect.

Late last year I worked with Cotswold Energy group to completely redesign and overhaul the user experience of their website.

The company help their customers to utilise clean energy generation within their homes and businesses. Their previous website was very text heavy, and whilst it contained a lot of useful information around their services, user testing revealed that crucial information around what the company offers was often getting missed.

I identified a number of areas for improvement across the website’s structure, look and feel and user experience, which were then taken forward into a brand new website design.

The site presents you with the ‘Gene Machine’, where you can trigger and manipulate the stems of one of the tracks from the album by turning switches off and on. It initially launched with the first single ‘What Moves’ and then was updated to feature subsequent singles.

It was built using webaudio API by Aaron Ablinson after a lot of trawling the internet for suitable libraries, which was no mean feat given it was such an experimental concept from the outset.

Along with the wider release campaign, the project won Musically’s Campaigns of the Year for 2020. Scroll to read more about it.

Back in 2020, I lead the UX and UI design of a new website concept for The Hut Group’s enterprise e-commerce service THG Ingenuity.

The first focus was breaking down each aspect of their vast end-to-end service and forming a comprehensive site architecture and page structure.

The second was bringing the brand’s look and feel to life by developing a visually clean and flexible modular design system and then using animation to create a widescreen and sophisticated experience.

Alongside THG, I worked alongside @andnowthis1, who art directed the awesome CGI video you see behind the logo here.

From the archives: About a million years ago, while at @retrofuzz, I worked on this site for sublime illustrator @al_murphagram. It’s long since become outdated and been replaced (with a lovely new website I might add), but it’s always been one of my favourites 😊.

Across 2022 I’ve worked with @jamielenman and directed three of his music videos to accompany his new album ‘The Atheist’ which is out today via @bsmrocks.

Working with Jamie was a fantastic opportunity for me to build on a bunch of my self-learned video skills (concept, directing, shooting, editing, grading), and my experience in working with artists and bands on smaller scale digital work.
