Rolling pastures dotted with barns, forests, and wildflowers surround the Stanfordville House. Tucked just beyond the crest of a hill, the home offers its residents both privacy and panoramic views of its fifty acres of idyllic reclaimed farmland. On neighboring hills, distant barns and farming facilities offer vernacular references for a home that is both contextual and boldly independent. The clients’ goal was to create a welcoming space for guests and extended family.
To support the hyperlocal ecosystem of pollinators, the site was revegetated with native grasses and wildflowers that also provide a softness that contrasts the home’s crisp silhouettes.

Celebrating Earth Day with the Ribbon Cutting of Linden Grove🌱🌇

We’re grateful to Gilbane Development and Blue Sea Development for their partnership and leadership. We are proud to have served as the structural engineers on this landmark project, designed by Chris Benedict Architect, which is significant for both sustainability and social impact.

A NYSERDA’s Building of Excellence winner, Linden Grove is the tallest affordable modular senior housing building in NYC, featuring 13 stories, approximately 100,000 SF, with 153 apartments. The building is the first in the country to meet some of the industry’s most rigorous sustainability and wellness standards, including: Passive House CORE, LEED Platinum, National Green Building Standard (Emerald), ENERGY STAR, EPA Indoor airPLUS, Zero Energy Ready Home, and Fitwel Certification.

Thank you to all the partners, agencies, and leaders who helped bring this vision to life. It took a village! A project that truly reflects what’s possible when innovation, collaboration, and purpose align. 🙌

The Stanfordville House debuts as a Featured Project on the @Architizer website today!

Early in the design process, the clients introduced us to their feng shui master who provided siting parameters for the home. Following his guidance, the home maintains a strong north-south organization, and is oriented to align with particular structures on a distant hill. We re-interpreted the traditional courtyard typology with strong vistas through the midsection of the home & redefined the corners of the courtyard with axial views and movement through them.

We are grateful to @structureworksconstruction, @murrayengineering, and @deltamillworks for their collaboration--- construction details, structural elegance, and the expressive beauty of wood merge together beautifully.

One part of our athletic facility project is a field house built with a pre-engineered metal structure. The pieces are fabricated in a factory and assembled on site. This method enabled swift construction, completing the structure in 3 weeks. The upfront design and engineering saved significant time during the build process.
