Last year my car was used for an R&D install at @allwheeldrivetuning of the new extra-large core FMIC from @perrin_performance and now that it’s officially released I can finally share it.
This thing is absolutely massive - 13.25” tall with nearly 1300 cu-in of core volume, built for higher horsepower setups that need serious charge air cooling. I know I’m still at baby horsepower…but we’re building toward big girl horsepower someday.
The kit also includes a PERRIN washer tank and coolant overflow tank to make room for the new boost tube routing. (Still waiting for them to make a coolant overflow drink tumbler 👀😂)
A tune isn’t required for the intercooler itself, but since we already had other mods planned we loaded a basemap after install and did a dyno tune once everything else was on the car.
Because of the size of the core we did have to trim the bumper, and my deep-inset carbon fiber grille unfortunately couldn’t stay since it wouldn’t clear the intercooler. Shoutout to @melissadrifts for chopping my carbon grille practically in half so I could keep it 😁
