Re:wild
We don’t need to reinvent the planet 🟢 We need to #rewild it! Join us in protecting and restoring the wild.

👏 Can we take a moment to brag?
🟢 Conserving over half a billion acres of the wild 🌏 with our partners is a pretty big deal! We are proud of our collaborative work around the world --and we’re passionate about bringing people together to protect and restore nature at the scale and speed our planet needs. 💪

🌊 Saving Chile’s vital kelp forests 🐙 Re:wild partner @rewildingchile, an offspring organization of @tompkins_conservation, is leading a megatransect survey in one of the largest intact kelp forests on the planet.
Across 6 expeditions, the Rewilding Chile team will travel over 700 miles (1,200 kilometers) to study and protect Patagonia’s kelp forests. This marine ecosystem is home to hundreds of species and is known to be one of the most efficient natural carbon sinks on Earth.
🌿The forests of Giant Kelp can reach up to 262 feet (80 meters).
🌿They are able to absorb up to 20x the amount of carbon as forests on land.
🌿They create biodiversity-rich environments and provide essential carbon to the entire food web.

🦬 “If there’s no environment, there’s no human race,” said Ted Turner, one of the planet’s boldest conservationists. His remarkable life and conservation legacy live on in the landscapes he helped restore and the species his work protected. 🌾
From helping protect millions of acres of grasslands across North America to restoring American Bison herds and championing environmental action on a global stage, his vision helped bring conservation into the mainstream and inspired generations to think bigger about what’s possible. 🌎
Today we reflect on Ted Turner’s philanthropy, storytelling, and relentless belief in bold action. He helped drive meaningful conservation progress that will benefit people, wildlife, and ecosystems for generations to come.
🐺 The wild is wilder because of Ted!

They carry forests in their stomachs. 🌿
They move across borders that divide their habitat.
They’ve been keeping ecosystems connected for millions of years.
Baird’s Tapirs are more than a species—they’re a force for regeneration.
This World Tapir Day, we’re celebrating the work of @BairdsTapir, a powerful network of partners across Mesoamerica working together to protect tapirs and the forests they sustain.

Have you ever heard of a lemur census?
In the forests of Madagascar, counting lemurs is a vital tool to help protect Critically Endangered species. Findings from local Malagasy partner, Association des Guides Andasibe, have confirmed that habitat quality determines lemur population health.
In a study supported by @ageofunion and @rewild, Malagasy researchers counted lemurs in the Mahatsara Forest, where 13 different lemur species are found—including Indri, Diademed Sifaka, and Black-and-white Ruffed Lemurs. This intact ecosystem currently sustains larger lemur populations and is an example of successful community-led conservation.
Association des Guides Andasibe works to restore degraded habitats, monitor lemurs, and educate local communities on the importance of healthy ecosystems.
Together, all three organizations are dedicated to ensuring that all lemurs are accounted for and protected!

🌎 Remember the original Earth Day? The protest for our planet?! A demand for change, for a brighter future together.
That energy hasn’t disappeared. It lives in Indigenous Peoples and local communities who have safeguarded ecosystems for generations, and in conservationists who are doing the hard work day in and out to care for our planet.
🟢 @rewild supports Indigenous Peoples and local communities in protecting and restoring wild places, and helping recover threatened species across more than 565 MILLION acres worldwide. Because Earth needs more than attention. Our planet needs us to unite in action!
