What a week! 🎉

The first week of our 3rd annual #2025SMPA has been nothing short of amazing! The participants have been so engage and the feedback has been overwhelming. We're pacing ourselves year over year to deliver more top tier industry knowledge and business acumen when it comes to licensing music, producing music and managing catalog in the sync space.

We've been so fortunate to have @disco.ac, @actraracs and @socanmusic contribute to the knowledge sharing and have really helped us raise the bar when it comes to really supporting career development.

Week 2 is not slowing down with the help of @apmmusic, @sonymusicpub, @griffithlaw, AI specialist and lawyer, #LisaWhynot and creative show-runner, writer and executive producer #AdenAbebe. The songwriters and music producers are set to starting cooking on briefs and the music supervisor training stream are diving into brief writing, budget management, licensing and clearing.

Michelle Allman‑Esdaille is a visionary music executive, entrepreneur, and advocate for sustainable, equity‑driven careers. As Founder and CEO of The HOOK & Company, she leads The HOOK Sync Group, Sustainable Creative Living, and the Managers‑On‑Demand marketplace. She built Canada’s first Black female‑owned sync agency, securing placements with networks such as BET+, OWN, and Bravo, alongside independent films. Michelle consults for Music BC’s Jumpstart program, mentors with Women In Music Canada, and has developed national programming across Alberta, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. Named one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch in 2024 by CIBWE and author of the anthology “You Have So Much Potential,” she champions inclusive career development and equitable access for underrepresented creators across the country.

Thank you to all that registered for the 3rd annual Sync Music Production Accelerator. We had an amazing turnout of applicants this year and can officially say...we are filled to capacity! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

This year our participants will learn:

Music Supervisors:

• Understand the role of a sync agent vs. supervisor, balancing creative selection with licensing and clearances.
• Learn the script-to-sound process, breaking down scripts to identify musical needs and develop briefs.
• Collaborate directly with directors, editors, and producers to shape the film’s sound.
• Gain licensing and legal basics, including rights, clearances, and publishing considerations.
• Build and present a professional catalog under real deadlines.

Songwriters & Producers:

• Create to briefs, creating music that aligns with a supervisor’s vision.
• Apply technical production skills to build broadcast-quality cues with tight turnarounds.
• Experience collaborative feedback cycles, seeing demos evolve into final tracks.
• Develop genre flexibility and emotional storytelling to heighten narrative impact.
• Manage ownership and deliverables correctly, including stems, alt mixes, metadata, and split sheets.

Meet our Songwriting Captain for the 2025 Sync Music Production Accelerator!

Ceyion King is a Hip Hop fusion artist, songwriter, record producer and music executive from Toronto, Canada. Canadian born, Jamaican raised, Ceyion has had placements on Radio, TV, Film, Video Games, BET+, CBC, Hulu and more.

Ceyion also teaches Hip Hop and Culture in schools, is a public speaker and runs live music events through his community organization, Building Bridges; focusing on amplifying and elevating the next generation of Black music in Canada. On the publishing side, Ceyion curates and facilitates song camps for artists, labels, film and TV through his agency Seeking Sync in Canada and around the world. Because of his experience in the music industry, Ceyion also does consulting and A&R work with multiple artists, producers, engineers and creators.

We're excited to bring on board Ceyion's wealth of knowledge and expertise to this years 2025 SMPA programming.
