Off-season vibe 🤠

As I get older I realize the infinite value in releasing the anchors holding me down. When a person fucks up, I forgive them. If someone abuses my confidence, I move forward. When a person disrespects me, I attempt to bear no malice. When someone tries to dismantle me to their level, I turn the other direction. If this person says they truly meant no harm, I trust them.

The fundamental source of unhappiness is rarely the situation itself, but my thoughts surrounding it. Simply moving on requires little effort and goes a long way. It always pays off to take the high road.

After a tumultuous morning that had my mind spinning about all of the aforementioned, I went for my first run in over two weeks since racing one hundred miles and it felt really good. I subsequently signed up for my next big race in just about three months and got super excited about the prospects of getting back into training. I very quickly forgot about the negative way my day began.

Then I took my dogs out and was reminded why I'll always love animals more than people; they really don't care about anything except having fun in each moment and enjoying life to its fullest — unadulterated jubilation. They love everyone and everything, no matter what.

Stay happy my friends, be kind to each other & go play with a dog if you're in need of a perspective shift. It definitely helps.

He wasn’t ever really my own pup, but he was a real good boy and I shared a roof with him over the course of about 7 or so years between Slo and the Mesa and I sure did spend a lot of quality hang time adventuring with him from Montaña de Oro to Thousand Steps and a collection of places in between, all while he seemed to have the sweet spot of life stimulation figured out to a ‘T’ and I felt lost as all hell. I’ve saved up so many stories from him that I’d like to think he inspired and prepped me to get dogs of my own one day and for that and those things and many more memories I hold onto dearly I’ll always remember and love the dude...Float on Mr. Bigs, soar high Bigsy you are and always will be the absolute Best, a clear notch above the rest. And I’ll always be chasing your incredibly intelligent & intuitive ways of just letting the experiences unfold naturally, indifferent to hypothetical boundaries and just loving to live life to the fullest each day, no matter what. Fair winds & following seas, my dear friend 💚

Not quite winter, but not spring yet. ❄️🌱

Snow stepping, trail rivers, and no clean lines to be found.

Exactly the kind of conditions that make or break your gear.

Been putting the new senja pieces from @norrona through it — and they just keep moving.

@suunto × @tracksmithstamata is live 🔥

At the center of this is a commitment to elevating women’s running and supporting the OTQ chase.

Months in the making, built around one idea: the work matters more than race day.

The reps, the consistency, the process behind it all.

Just getting started.

March!

Beat my bib number at my first GSR thanks to great coaching/fast skis from @just_easty, then dropped a DNF at Big Alta and had a bday. Aerobically feeling strong & the running legs are coming around…

Hopefully Gorge goes better in a couple of weeks!
