At GDC with @metatailor_official showing how we use their tools inside our game cinematics pipeline.
MetaTailor lets us quickly fit clothing assets to our MetaHumans and send them straight back into Unreal Engine with their Bridge feature. It speeds up character creation and helps us move faster when building cinematics.
If you’re at GDC come check it out.

Day 1 at GDC is in the books.
We’ve had some great conversations around game cinematics and motion capture and how we’re bringing real filmmaking techniques into real-time pipelines with Unreal Engine.
At the booth we’re also showing how we’re using MetaTailor in our workflow along with a preview of a new Unreal Engine plugin we’ve been building to streamline cameras and lighting for cinematics.
Huge thanks to MetaTailor, Puget Systems, and AOTO for helping make the booth happen.
If you’re at GDC, come by booth 1234 and say hey. Day 2 starts now.

We’re out in San Francisco this week with the team at @metatailor_official showing how we use their software inside our Unreal Engine pipeline for game cinematics. It’s been a great tool for quickly creating and customizing characters for real time storytelling.
We’re also showing a new @unrealengine plugin our team has been building that makes working with cameras and lighting in Unreal much faster when creating cinematics.
Huge thank you to @aoto_led for providing the LED panels for the booth.
If you’re at GDC this week come by booth 1234 and say hey.

This Battlefield Cinematic Proves Unreal Engine Is the #1 Filmmaking Tool | David Stapp
In this episode we sit down with David Stapp, Cinematics Director at Form Studios and host of Virtual Production Insider, to break down his career journey and the creation of his latest Unreal Engine cinematic inspired by the Battlefield universe.
With over a decade of experience across film, VFX, post-production, cinematography, and virtual production, David shares how his background in traditional filmmaking directly informs his work creating real-time cinematics for video games.
We dive deep into the making of “Conquest,” a Battlefield-inspired Unreal Engine fan film developed as a full R&D project for Form Studios. The goal? To test and refine an end-to-end game cinematics pipeline that Form can now offer as a service.
What we cover in this episode:
✅ David Stapp’s career path from film to game cinematics
✅ Unreal Engine workflows for real-time cinematics
✅ Building a Battlefield fan film that stays true to the source material
✅ Using motion capture for realism in game cinematics
✅ Traditional vs markerless mocap solutions
✅ Virtual production pipelines
✅ How R&D projects help studios expand creative services

Today we’re breaking down how we created our #Battlefield fan film in @unrealengine 💥
In this episode (link in bio), we dive into our performance capture workflow — using @optitrack cameras at @formstudios for full-body capture streamed directly into Unreal Engine via the new Mocap Manager. We also used @the.captury to capture all of the stunt performances without mocap suits, which completely blew our minds.
This project pushed our mocap and animation pipelines to their limits, and it would not have been possible without the incredible support of our volunteers and sponsors. Huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this film to life.

Behind the scenes of building a markerless motion capture rage room for the Puget Systems booth at SIGGRAPH.
From setup to show floor chaos. No suits, no markers, just pure fun and a lot of Unreal Engine magic.

We captured INSANE stunts for our Battlefield fan film using markerless motion capture 🎬🔥
No suits. No markers. Just pure action brought to life in Unreal Engine 5. This was made possible using our @optitrack PrimeX 22 cameras with @the.captury markerless mocap software. We were also able to utilize Duplex Mode, an exclusive feature to Optitrack cameras, where we can track props with IR markers in tandem with the markerless mocap system.
And a huge shoutout to @goodslatepictures and their talented team of stunt performers for bringing this film to life:
Stunt Coordinator - @bobbydstunts
Asst. Stunt Coordinator - @tomprwatson
Stunt Performers - @here_comes_rico , Maya Santandrea, @jardzo_stunts, @jared_corum
The future of filmmaking is HERE and it's more accessible than ever.

Testing out @meta new Hyperscape feature on the @metaquest 3s and the results are wild. This kind of quality from a headset you can buy anywhere is going to move spatial scans and gaussian splats into everyday life fast.
We really believe these scans will get as easy as taking a picture, except you can actually step back into the moment. We have been talking about scanning our spaces every year so when we are older we can walk back into moments from when our kids were younger. It really feels like time travel.
This tech is going to change both professional and personal worlds in a big way.
