We are beyond excited about introducing you to the work of our dear artist @lorena_solis_bravo

“We are not just human, we are many things”, says Lorena Solís Bravo (1991). In their work, the artist investigates what it means to be
human and how we are inextricably linked to the world around us. They start from the symbiotic idea that evolution is driven by
cooperation rather than by struggle. Instead of microorganisms eating each other millions of years ago, they started forming new living
structures that made new forms of life possible.
Solís Bravo's work builds on this harmonious idea by asking questions about what makes us human and what defines our identity. A
recurring theme is the idea of 'the other': who you are is determined by how you relate to the people around you, but also by everything
non-human around us, such as bacteria, living and non-living matter, and anything that deviates from the 'norm'.
In the process of creating and filming the video work "The guest, the host & the ghost", Solís Bravo left for Brazil and developed
workshops and choreography for 7 performers, in collaboration with choreographer Fernanda Libman and music producer upsammy. The
artist has created a video work in which the body is presented as a landscape. Solís Bravo calls it a landscape because they argue that
there is no such thing as a sole individual, but rather an assemblage of diverse living species which together form an ecological unit. We
are all collections of microorganisms that just so happen to live within the landscapes of our bodies.

Dears,

We went to sleep. Had many dreams. We embarked ourselves on a variety of sleep-walk tours. We got lucid, and envisioned a show, in Amsterdam, right before the spring solstice.

We just woke up, and haven't forgot about any of those dreams. We just need a post-hibernation coffee. Possibly also some body warm up exercises. It will only take us a couple of days to share with you what is about to come.

We are beyond excited to be back!

As the weekend is getting closer, we wanted to give you a sneak peak of our limited edition printed poem, created by our team and designed by @cleotsw.

We are bringing our stack with us tomorrow at the Het HEM & Friends event and in this way we are softly introducing our upcoming season, opening up bits and pieces of the dialogues that have been had amongst us, while seeking for yours.

For those of you we will get to see in person: the prints will be available to take home for a discounted price.

If you can't make it tomorrow and would like to get a better look or purchase one, you are welcome to write us at hellolaurelprojectspace@gmail.com.

The proceeds will be utilised to support Laurel in covering our expenses and continuing to further develop our programme.

X,

L.

A bit more than a year has passed since we introduced you to Anto López Espinosa, who participated in our inaugural show at the Kamerlingh Onneslaan 1, Our Seas Are What We Make Of Them. Today we are happy to announce that dear Anto has officially joined the Laurel team!

We are currently working on a new research program. Since our home base at the Kamerlingh Onneslaan is not accessible to us anymore, we are finding new ways for Laurel to continue to develop and find forms of practising our values.

For now, we wanted to share this great news with you.

With love,

Kleoniki, Juliet and Anto

As the end of March approaches, and therefore the end of Laurel’s tenancy at the
Kamerlingh Onneslaan 1 draws nearer, we are reflecting on this beautiful building and
the time in which we have called it our home. We want to celebrate it’s memory - but
also to celebrate all of the people who have made our stay here and our previous year
programme so special. Thank you for activating this space, and bringing life and joy to
us here.
We want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of our artists, curators,
visitors, and partners; but also to members of our team who will be moving on, either to
new positions in other cultural spaces, or to focus on their own practices.
There is a lot to say regarding the future of Laurel Project Space, and we will be
introducing our plans, ideas, collaborations and research in the coming months - so keep
an eye out through social media and for our newsletter.

The team of Laurel Project Space stands in solidarity with the people affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine. We have been thinking of ways to act in support and came up with the idea of collecting a body of artists who might be interested in offering an artwork of theirs as part of a fundraiser. A hundred percent of those earnings will be donated to @urgentactionfund and UNHCR @refugees.

In the coming days we will be introducing those pieces on our instagram page and via a newsletter. If you would like to purchase something you can write us an email at hellolaurelprojectspace@gmail.com - please note that the sale will take place between the 17th - 19th of March. Until then, keep an eye out here for the artworks donated and share with those who might be interested.

Also please remember that donations of any amount can be made to those organisations at any time and without purchasing anything through the links in our bio.

As we wrap up the year, we decided to share some behind-the-scenes photos that bring us warmth, and to celebrate some of the joyful moments that broke through this challenging year. We want to thank all of the beautiful people that helped to form Laurel and our programme, which has now come to a close, until further developments next year 💫

Anonstories oferuje doskonałe rozwiązanie do ukrywania swojej tożsamości.
