#BirthrightCitizenship is on the line as the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments over the Trump administration’s efforts to overturn the 14th Amendment. From the #May19Project, the story of Frederick Douglass and Wong Kim Ark and their fight for birthright citizenship.

#SolidarityIs about Frederick Douglass standing up for Asians during a time when the U.S. wanted to ensure they and their children could never become Americans.

#SolidarityIs Wong Kim Ark’s 1898 Supreme Court victory — drawing on the 14th Amendment — and affirming the right of children of migrants, immigrants, and refugees to be full citizens.

The impact of his case cannot be overstated. If you are a non-Native born in the U.S., consider that it may be the reason *you are* a citizen.

Yet today, those born in colonized American Sāmoa can serve in the army but not become citizens.

And now the Trump administration is attacking the fundamental right of birthright citizenship for all.

If they can revoke citizenship from some of us, they will not stop until they have stripped the life from most of us.

Sugar Pie DeSanto. From San Francisco Pinay Soul Sister to Worldwide Entertainer and Trailblazer in the music industry. 🎤🎸🎶

In the 1950s Sugar Pie DeSanto and Etta James grew up in a racially mixed neighborhood of San Francisco, where they created musical friendships that changed the direction of R&B. Get to know them and other Asian Americans at the #May19thProject 💫

The Delano Grape Strike was a joint effort of our ancestors’ power in solidarity. @rubyibarra tells the story. 🍇✊🏿🌾

Dolores Huerta, Philip Vera Cruz, Larry Itliong, Fred Ross, SNCC activists, clergy, field workers from Filipino, Mexican, Yemeni, indigenous communities, and thousands whose names we don’t know but whose legacy endures. A powerful reminder that no one person powered the farm labor movement.
