PTSD has long been seen as the primary driver of veteran suicide. But it doesn’t fully explain why rates are 1.5x higher than the general population.
Emerging research points to something deeper: the loss of identity, purpose, and connection in the transition to civilian life.
This National Military Appreciation Month, Stand Together supports efforts like @thecommitfoundation that help veterans navigate that transition with clarity, purpose, and support — before a crisis begins. Learn more at the 🔗 in bio.

America has a skilled worker shortage.
@stadler_rail Group CEO Martin Ritter didn't wait for someone else to fix it and built TRAC (Talent Ready Apprenticeship Connection) with @higheredutah. The program pairs high schoolers with real manufacturing jobs, pays for their associate degree, and graduates foremen in their early 20s. Now other industries are taking notes. With belief, leadership, and an unconventional approach, Coach Bora Milutinović helped transform a group of underdogs — building a team that changed American soccer forever. ⚽ 🇺🇲
This summer, Summer of ’94 and Yes, Coach!, an initiative from @standtogether and @ussoccerfoundation are teaming up to highlight the power of coaching and the impact coaches have both on and off the field.

69% of employers can’t find enough workers to fill open jobs. But America's labor shortage isn't a pipeline problem — @stadler_rail CEO Martin Ritter says it's a training problem. That’s why he partnered with @higheredutah to build an apprenticeship model to fix it, and other industries are taking note.

@variety recently featured a SXSW panel with Ed Foster-Simeon, President of the @ussoccerfoundation, in an article on Summer of '94.
“16 million kids in this country don’t have a mentor,” Foster-Simeon shared, highlighting the impact of the Yes, Coach! initiative and the critical role coaches play in addressing youth isolation and mental health challenges.
Summer of ’94 tells the story of the 1994 U.S. Men’s National Team on the road to the FIFA World Cup, and how one coach’s belief transformed a group of underdogs into unlikely competitors. Together with our partners at the U.S. Soccer Foundation, we’re connecting audiences inspired by the film to opportunities to mentor and coach in their own communities through Yes, Coach!

U.S. homicide rates have fallen 16% since 2023, including a 21% drop across major cities. If the trend holds nationally, the country could see its lowest homicide rate in more than a century.
For decades, the public narrative has run in the opposite direction. Crime is rising, and cities are unsafe. The system isn't working. Vikrant Reddy, senior fellow, constitutionally limited government, Stand Together Trust, says that the story has always been more complicated than the headlines suggest. "Complex social outcomes rarely have one cause," he writes, "and progress rarely comes from one solution."
The more important question, Reddy argues, isn't just what's driving the decline. It's what the decline makes possible. The criminal justice system runs as a continuum, from how laws are written to how people reenter society, and there are multiple points where more effective approaches pay dividends.
In Baltimore, a Stand Together partner called @weourusmovement works alongside law enforcement, guiding people toward more productive pathways through mentorship, mediation, and employment services. In cities across the country, The Phoenix (@riserecoverlive) addresses substance use by building sober communities around fitness and connection rather than treating it as a criminal issue first.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott cited these kinds of partnerships directly in November 2025, pointing to data sharing and coordinated efforts between police and community organizations as driving the city's ongoing reductions in gun violence. Scott called it "not a coincidence."
The data is encouraging. The question now is whether the country uses the momentum to build something more durable. Read more at the 🔗 in bio. #CriminalJustice
