The feeling of being in the parade and hearing the crowds roar was indescribable; it was almost unreal that just a few years ago we were stepping out shop to silence of the “new norm.”

Seeing our neighborhood go from ghost town to parade sounds just goes to show that we always persevere and bounce back.Our community’s heartbeat has become stronger than ever.

Just 2 years ago when covid struck we faced one of the hardest moments of our lives. It was crushing, not being able to serve up smiles, laughter and confidence in a space that is home to us all.

During the darkest months of 2020, when lockdown had no end in sight, we hopped on zoom “haircut coaching calls” to help our clients and ran daily meetings with the team to keep our spirits high. At that point, it was about staying sane and not letting the world of anxiety around us sink in any deeper.

But eventually team calls became community calls thatdeveloped into a short web series in collaboration with local entrepreneurs. Our web series titled “fight or flight” our first stab at “content” designed to give encouragement and advice for the young professionals in our community that lost internships and work opportunities due to covid. The silver lining had revealed itself that summer and the most important realization we had was that our relationships/community was not tied to our physical location but our tenacity and resilience to hold it together… digitally.

For the last 2 years we went through the hardest learning journey of our entire lives, from maybe surviving to thriving and adjusting through the growth of it all. We want to thank you all for helping us raise industry standards/perceptions and allowing us to see the impact of our work through the immense support you have provided us by engaging and sharing our content! Mad love ❤️ If not for you, there would be no @12pell 🙏

We came up in a decade that completely changed barbering. We watched social media become the platform for barbers to create, educate, build businesses and become cultural voices, but with all that opportunity came a lot of noise and very little direction on what sustainable growth actually looks like.

That’s why 12PELL, PRAX, and Paradox are coming together to challenge ourselves, raise the standard, and build the future of this industry together. We’re not here to just win moments but to build something that outlasts us and change perspectives on the industry forever.
