"I think I learned early on to see beauty in my environment, in things that aren't necessarily considered beautiful. I always appreciated rusty metal, rusted-out cars, I always thought they were really interesting. Things that were discarded. Trash, really. I found beauty even in the vandalism. And I think that that recognition early on to see beauty in your environment in places where it isn't generally seen or appreciated — I think that still affects my work."

On Monday, 26th April, 1937, the Basque town of Gernika was bombed by fascists. A contemporary report stated that "the object of the bombardment was seemingly the demoralization of the civil population and the destruction of the cradle of the Basque race."
Immediately upon reading the news, Pablo Picasso, a Spanish painter then living in Paris, began work upon his canvas "Guernica," an excoriation of war's depredations, and elegy for its victims. On 12th July, 1937, this anti-war cri de coeur — now one of the best-known paintings in the world — was first made available to the public at the Spanish Pavillion of the Paris International Exposition. Among the painting's detractors was Germany's then Nazi government, which called it "a hodgepodge of body parts that any four-year-old could have painted."

My book Rotten Perfect Mouth is being reissued by Invisible Publishing next month. Here's what they say about it:
At the end of April we’ll be releasing a new edition of Eva H.D.’s Rotten Perfect Mouth. Originally released by Toronto poetry institution Mansfield Press in 2015, Rotten Perfect Mouth is one of our favourite books of poetry. Ever. We hope you’ll feel the same about Eva H.D.’s work as, say, Jessie Buckley, who wrote: “Eva is an extraordinary pirate queen who is restlessly on a quest to swim in the unchartered moments that often are hidden within the habitual monotony of the everyday.”
And here's what I say about it:
In 2015, @misterjohndoyle wrote in the Globe & Mail: “There is no greater verbal-sensual rush than discovering a great poet, and the mysterious Eva H.D. is that. Her poem ‘38 Michigans,’ an achingly bittersweet lament, won the Montreal International Poetry Prize, with the sole judge, Irish poet Eavan Boland, saying of it, ‘The whimsy itself suggests that grief has found a voice and is making its own reality with a devil-take-the-hindmost defiance.’ And the collection Rotten Perfect Mouth is a miraculous calling forth of melancholy, but drenched with dry wit, very Toronto and deeply musical. Poetry find of the year, easily.”
So I sent the paper a note, apprising Mr Doyle of my barshift schedule, inviting him to join us for a pint on the house. Turned out he was our neighbour. Now he's a regular, and a friend. This story is also, as it turns out, very Toronto.

Reading Sunday afternoon at the Emmet Ray, poets Paul Vermeersch and Canisia Lubrin and Eva H.D., and yer favourite local troubadour Corin Raymond.

When it comes to assistant directors, it's very important to work with prepossessing individuals who apparently carry Criterion badges in their pockets.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
