We’re honestly tired of keeping secrets from you all 😭

Yesterday, the legendary @jazzyb made a surprise appearance at 5X Fest and was honoured by @inkquisitive with a special piece commemorating over 30 years of Panjabi artistry, legacy, and impact. The room was full of love, reflection, and stories that reminded us just how much Jazzy B has done for the culture, community and putting Surrey on the map.

We had so many incredible conversations throughout the night, but this is one we had to share right away.

When asked about his advice for future generations of artists, he said his advice is the same as he has for his own kids. As a father, Jazzy B shared that more than anything, he just wants to see his kids follow their hearts, pursue their dreams, and stay humble through it all. He spoke openly about how his son has sometimes felt the pressure of following in the footsteps of one of the most iconic Panjabi artists of all time, but that he’s always encouraged him to carve out his own lane and create his own pathway. And sometimes, things naturally align.

In a true #5Xclusive, Jazzy B revealed that his very first song with his son, up-and-coming artist @lillxjb, is officially dropping tonight!

The Crown Prince of Bhangra has opened doors for so many artists across generations, and now we’re witnessing a beautiful full-circle chapter unfold in real time.

5X Fest has always been a space that uplifts emerging artists and creates room for the next generation to grow, connect, and dream bigger. We’re excited to watch a new generation of Panjabi kids continue to push boundaries and innovate the landscape of the Canadian music scene in ways the world has never seen before.
