Last summer I spent about a month making a house in 1/24th scale for the key art for our short film ‘Just a Game’ directed by @brandon_mercer

Every shingle, every brick, every fence post, every little sliver of siding were hand measured, hand cut and hand painted. The background and floor are hand painted canvas. The telephone post is part of an old dowel I found in my garage and its wires are hand braided black cotton thread. It was a true labor of love and an exploration of patience and craft.

Thank you Brandon for trusting me with my first miniature and for always pushing me beyond the bounds and into the unknown!

To be an artist is to be a dreamer, but to be a dreamer is a trap if you aren’t able to bring your dreams to life.

It takes a village to create - from confidants and mentors who help light the uncertain path, givers of resources and opportunities, and those who work hand-in-hand to build the shared vision. I’m thankful for all of the chances I’ve had to create, everyone who helped me get here and all of the invigorating individuals I’ve met and admired along the way. It’s lovely to end 2025 feeling inspired, curious and eager.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with so many dear (& incredibly talented) friends on this deeply personal story.

When I read the script written by our director @ryanweatrowski I was struck by the sensitive careful delivery of the relatable horrors of caretaking. It’s something I battle with in caring for my mother. Thoughts and themes were ripped right out of what has been circulating in my head for so many years. Thank you for making my story and so many others.

I can’t wait to share this film with you all.
