In advance of Sunday’s big party in North Shields town centre, here’s some more snippets of the first round of communnity interviews we’ve started doing.

This Saturday see’s us bring the Blessed Madonna, Make A Dance, The Juan MacLean to North Shields to join or growing roster of homegrown resident DJs and around 1000 music lovers who are choosing to dance and enjoy themselves in our town.

These are great times we’re living in and we’re keen to document what and why it’s happening.

We can think of few people from a DJing background who have gone on to shape what that means in the context of broader 21st century culture.
Like his contemporary, and good friend, Andrew Weatherall, David Holmes has not only not consistently challenged the world’s expectations of what underground dance music culture sounds like, but also what it represents.
Whether as a DJ, a solo artist, or as the composer for film and TV with work for Hollywood directors and independent auteurs alike, David has proven himself to be a singular musical force.

He changed the course of our lives with his 1993 Essential Mix, before changing it again with his 1997 Essential mix which was so profoundly impactful that it influenced almost every club Backroom around the North East for at least a decade afterwards.

We’re going on, but you can probably tell this is a big deal for us ;)

Anybody looking for a night time space can either try on the door for Kings St where we’ll be one-out-one-in till 10pm at which point we’ll put all unclaimed spaces for sale on the door.

We’re teaming up with NVWLS to host the official AMF afterparty for A Very Very Good Friday at The Cause because when 10PM hits and the main party wraps, you’re not ready to go home… you’re just getting started.

Down the road, The Cause is running it all day with a stacked lineup and multi-room madness (you already know the levels), and we’ll be here to catch you on the other side.

From 10PM–4AM, we keep things rolling with NVWLS and Rosie on the decks. If you’ve danced to Rosie before, you’ll know… a resident of cult favourites @mememeparties and @areyouaffiliatedkingstreet, she brings that deep, hypnotic, late-night energy that locks you in and doesn’t let go.

ROSIE

In a short space of time Rosie has quietly become one of the most respected selectors moving through Newcastle’s dancefloors. A resident at Are You Affiliated on King Street, she has built a reputation for sets that are thoughtful, instinctive and deeply connected.

Her journey has already taken her beyond the North East, sharing line-ups with artists such as Midland and Erol Alkan, while bringing her sound to dancefloors in Ibiza, York, Manchester and London.
Rosie’s approach to DJing reflects the same values we hold close at SHI-BUIsubtlety, intention and the beauty of letting music speak for itself. Her selections are carefully shaped and always tuned to the moment, moving naturally through House, Breaks and Techno without ever feeling forced.
Expect depth, patience and energy in equal measure when she joins us @topfloor_ncl on March 28th.
