Meet Bryan and Miguel Valentine.
In 2011, GQ Magazine named Boston America’s worst dressed city — and ever since, we’ve carried the reputation of being the “leggings and hoodie” capital.
To be fair, Boston is a college town. With students everywhere rushing to class, comfort usually wins over couture. So we understand why the city might get labeled as a little bland when it comes to fashion.
But what people don’t always see is that Boston also has its share of HEAVY HITTERS — creatives quietly shaping style on some of the world’s biggest stages.
One of our favorites in the game is styling duo @_bryanalexis and @miguelcarlosmartinez , straight out of Boston. These two were the brains behind Melissa Queenie Sapini’s most iconic looks representing Haiti during the Miss Universe 2025 competition.
Here’s the wild part: they got the call just 11 days before Melissa was headed to Bangkok, Thailand to compete on one of the world’s biggest stages. In less than two weeks, they had to pull together 21 days worth of looks — collaborating with multiple designers to craft the show-stopping style the world saw on the Miss Universe stage.
Boston might get a bad rap when it comes to fashion… but stories like this prove the city is filled with talent that can compete anywhere in the world.
