It’s easy to romanticize escaping the present to live a glamorous alternative. That’s the one of the great tricks of acting and of the theatre. Escapism. Wonder. An elevation of life out of the present for a while. As an actor, to join a new family of strangers and inhabit a co-created world for a short, intense time. It’s my favorite. And it costs a lot. This little snap makes me feel like I should have been living in the 40s. I was primarily the photog for this production of A Street Car Named Desire, but I also played the doctor and delivery fella to round out the stellar cast while I was there shooting and I’m glad I got a snap of me with this Wiley little stache.

Century Sisters is a short film about my Great Aunt, Annamarie, and my Grandmother, Betty, leading up to Annamaries 109th Birthday. They were sisters for 95 years being the youngest and oldest daughters of a family of 8 children, married to brothers, roommates for 40 years, and sweet as pie. I first met Logan at the Austin Film Festival in 2024, where he was promoting The Twin (now available on Shudder and Amazon Prime). I chatted with him beforehand and was immediately drawn to his vibrant energy. After watching the film, I couldn’t help but congratulate his performance. His passion for filmmaking and collaboration shines through in everything he does.

As Annamarie’s 109th birthday approached I knew I needed to make a film inquiring into the long livers they were living so closely together. I wanted to have the deeper conversation that might yield those nuggets of gold that would otherwise go undiscovered from the two oldest family members. What I got was more than I could have hoped for. I hope you enjoy the film.

MEET THE FILMMAKER: Logan Donovan (@_logandonovan_ ) is a multifaceted storyteller with nearly 30 years of dedication to the craft of acting and filmmaking. A graduate of The North Carolina School of the Arts, where he studied under Theatre Hall of Famer Gerald Freedman, Logan has built his career on a foundation of rigorous training and unwavering artistic integrity. In 2019, Logan expanded his creative vision by founding Story Engine Productions, transitioning from solely acting to encompassing all aspects of filmmaking. His directorial debut came through two short films that served as his practical film school, followed by the creation of STORYLAB Collaborative—a writers’ lab fostering collaborative story development among creatives. Logan’s producing credits include six short films and the narrative podcast “Goodbye Blue Mondays,” which he developed, produced, co-directed, and starred in. His feature film debut, “The Twin,” in which he both stars and serves as producer, has secured distribution through Vertical Entertainment.
