I'm floating on cloud nine after yesterday's twilight mural ceremony, celebrating the immense efforts of everybody involved to make "Matilija Sky" a reality. We are pleased to announce the open call for the 2026 Artist Residency Program at the Rotten City Cultural District (RCCD) Bay Street Home Base, located in our flex gallery space at the Bay Street shopping center in Emeryville, CA. This residency offers emerging and established creatives a unique funded opportunity to develop and present new work in a vibrant, museum-style, high-traffic environment. Artists may apply as individuals, collectives, or organizations.

As we continue to highlight the transformative power of public art in the Bay Area, we are proud to showcase an incredible installation in Downtown Oakland.

This project carries special significance as it was created by Isadora Gullov-Singh, a talented artist who participated in the City of Oakland’s Cultural Strategist in Government (CSIG) workshop. This eight-month program is championed by the City to elevate local artists and provide them with the tools to transition into the public art sector.

Working in collaboration with ABG Art Group, Bay Area Redwood was involved in every stage of bringing Isadora’s vision to life. Our team handled sourcing Monterey Cypress Logs, custom millwork, finishing, fabrication, assembly, and the installation.

The choice of Monterey Cypress provides a durable, elegant, and locally resonant foundation for the piece. We are honored to play a role in a project that not only beautifies the Oakland cityscape but also supports the professional growth of our local creative community through the CSIG initiative.
