On 10 June 2026, Registan Square in Samarkand will host a gala concert by the opera soloists and the symphony orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre. The performance will take place in this historic square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and will become one of the landmark musical events of the summer.
The concert will be conducted by Valery Gergiev. The programme will feature arias, ensembles and symphonic excerpts from Russian and international operatic classics.
The year 2026 marks the Bolshoi Theatre’s 250th anniversary. The performance in Samarkand will form part of this international programme.

Loyiha Gendel musiqasining yangi talqinini taklif etadi: Kirill Rihter interpretatsiyasida barokko musiqa an’analari o‘zbek milliy cholg‘ulari sadolari bilan uyg‘unlashib, Amir Temur davridan ilhomlangan muhitni yaratadi.

On 4 June 2026, the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation will present George Frideric Handel’s opera on the stage of the Mariinsky Theatre as part of the Petersburg Seasons cultural festival within the framework of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The project offers a new interpretation of Handel’s music: in Kirill Richter’s vision, the Baroque musical tradition intertwines with the sound of Uzbek national instruments, creating an atmosphere inspired by the era of Amir Temur.

The Uzbek Jazz Evening, held as part of the International Jazz Festival, showed
that the local scene is alive and thriving. Jazzkent, together with the brass group of the State Philharmonic, proved that national heritage and contemporary jazz are not opposites, but a perfect union. An immersive look into Josef Tumari’s live sound performance, Äwlep, at the Uzbekistan National Pavilion.
Drawing from regional traditions where sound serves as a bridge between the physical and the unseen, Tumari transformed the Arsenale into a resonant environment of quiet meditation. Through the subtle layering of synthesis, archival echoes, and field recordings, the audience was invited to inhabit the delicate space between what was lost to the Aral Sea and what still breathes.

Yesterday, the Uzbekistan National Pavilion hosted the Public Programme for The Aural Sea, bringing together mentors, curators, and audiences for a day of profound dialogue at the Arsenale.
During The Pavilion as School panel, Gayane Umerova, Diana Campbell, Aaron Cezar, and Ekaterina Golovatyuk reflected on the collaborative pedagogy behind the pavilion. As ACDF Chairperson Gayane Umerova highlighted, inviting a new generation of curators to shape the Pavilion was a deliberate investment in Uzbekistan’s long-term cultural infrastructure. This initiative—born from the Bukhara Biennial Curatorial School—aims to revive the spirit of the Silk Road as a space of cultural exchange across Asia.
