We are delighted to announce Afrorack @afrorck as a new Patch Point instrument designer

To celebrate this new collab we are hosting 2 workshops where he will showcase his new designs to be released with us

You have to come to know them in first hand, but we can give you a hint:

one has a body of wood
and teeth of steel,
with a midi connection,
it bends both what is virtual and what is real.

My first time playing in Greece should have been happier but the notorious Turkish Airline hasn't delivered my luggage 24 hours later.!Anyways the folks at @onassis.stegi Borderline Festival have been very resourceful and found me most of what I needed to perform.Looking forward to playing some music tonight in Athens

Brian Bamanya is the first person to build DIY modular synth setups in Africa, hence his alias Afrorack. The 30-year-old engineering wizard started his music journey playing guitar and creating his own instruments, until he dove into the world of modular synths. Based on his own experimentations and online findings, Bryan developed an extensive home-built modular synth set-up on which he’s been performing for the last two years during dazzling
improvised live-sets mixing African rhythms, techno and acid house. He performed for the first time in Europe at CTM 20 and took part in their Hacklab laboratory, right
before the pandemic, since then Afrorack is regularly travelling to showcase his music, give workshops & talks.
His debut album was released with Hakuna Kulala on May 22 and got critically acclaimed.
2024/23 highlight shows: CTM festival, Rewire festival, SInsal festival, Bad Bonn Kilbi…

Sabato 21.02.26 🎛️ SYNTH DIY WORKSHOP

Ogni partecipante costruirà un oscillatore light reactive. Durante l’incontro verranno presentati i principali componenti elettronici (resistori, condensatori, ecc.) e le tecniche fondamentali di saldatura.

Si parlerà anche di come le competenze elettroniche possano essere utili per musicisti, sia nella costruzione di strumenti personalizzati che nella riparazione di dispositivi. Al termine del workshop ogni partecipante porterà a casa il proprio synth autoprodotto.

Il workshop è in inglese e non sono richieste conoscenze pregresse.
