Our non-profit series Place: continues with Egypt, Morocco, Toronto, Ireland & Switzerland. All projects are now on the map.

Launched in 2019, Place: is Air Texture's non-profit series with each release bringing together music and activism to spotlight both local scenes and causes.

Place: Switzerland curated by NVST & Nicola Kazimir. Release date: 01 August 2025

what is Place: a location specific electronic music compilation series where all proceeds are donated to local groups working on important causes in that area such as environment, human rights, conflict aid, and support.

The goal is to build a global network of music producers bringing important issues to the electronic music community and world at large.

Electronic music is a truly egalitarian, classless, and empowering art form. 1000's of producers have emerged from every corner of the globe in recent years, infusing their own culture and influences into the endless mix.

Let’s highlight more producers than the few who constantly tour, show up on the same lists and parties. Let's promote electronic music as an activist artform by and for the people.

4 Hero - Studio (1996)

Clip from Drum & Bass Documentary “Lost In Music” circa 1996. In the video the doc takes a visit to Dollis Hill, home of 4 Hero aka Tom & Jerry, & Reinforced Records.

4 Hero are an electronic music group from Dollis Hill, London, comprising producers Mark “Marc Mac” Clair & Denis “Dego” McFarlane. 4hero are known for being pioneers of breakbeat hardcore, jungle/drum and bass, broken beat and nu jazz music.

4hero first met and came to prominence in the late 1980s when they were involved in the Strong Island FM pirate radio station. Marc Mac and Gus Lawrence set up Reinforced Records in 1989 to release their own productions as 4hero, with the group being completed by Dego and Iain Bardouille. Their first release was the 1990 single “All B 3 / Rising Son”.

4hero were among the first proponents of what would become known as “drum and bass”, which began to grow in profile via a series of releases on Reinforced. Another drum and bass figurehead, Goldie, was introduced to 4hero by his girlfriend DJ Kemistry at a performance in London’s Astoria. Marc and Dego went on to teach and collaborate with Goldie which then brought the sounds Goldie envisioned to life, forming the Rufige Cru and Metalheadz monikers. @marc4hero @2000black @chapterroad
