I wanted to scout out some old motel to shoot the cover art for “Today is Yesterday Again”. But then @akytom said why don’t we build it, drop me in there, and light it like he’s in his own personal hell.

Which is how this video came to be.

The concept for the video evolved from an array of inspirations but was mainly influenced by the beautiful photography by @jooh.ee that is being used as the album art for Cowgirl’s latest singles and upcoming LP. The deeper conceptual ideas came from meetings between Leah and I that were meant to figure out what the hell this video would be but became loose yet in depth conversations about things like trying to make ‘art’ in the time of ‘content’ and how impossibly difficult making all this stuff tends to be.

The making of this one has been a deeply personal experience throughout. We shot in the woods in Vermont where I spent a lot of time as a kid and even my parents were quite involved in the project. On set I was alongside my brilliant partner and a group of wildly talented close friends, who all worked tirelessly to bring this to life. This was made with so much heart, I hope that’s felt through your screen.

Life’s been a bit of a whirlwind for me lately. @okcowgirlband came to me with a kooky video idea at a time when I’ve been feeling overwhelmed by life, drowning in projects and fully doubting my abilities as a creator. So naturally I fully threw myself at the chance to make something energetic, fun and very colorful.

It was so cathartic to make something so wacky so fast with such exceptional collaborators.
