This recognition mattered but not for the reason you might think… 👇
My educate-first approach was recently featured in an MSN article about entrepreneurs shaping the future of their fields. And while I’m incredibly grateful for the recognition, what mattered most to me wasn’t the feature itself, it was “why” this work was highlighted.
Because at the very same time the article went live, something else was happening quietly behind the scenes. January became a busy month of inquiries! Not in a rushed or chaotic way, but in a thoughtful one. So many people reached out saying they weren’t ready to renovate yet but they wanted to understand what they were getting into and plan properly. 🙌
More homeowners are starting in the right place — before budgets feel stretched, before decisions feel heavy, before stress sneaks in.
It also makes me so happy to see homeowners becoming more educated about how long the process really takes, instead of rushing into it last minute.
That kind of timing changes everything. ✨
If a bathroom renovation has been quietly sitting in your head for a while, I wrote more about this on the blog. It’s a gentle place to begin 🔗 aligninteriordesign.ca/blog

This morning I woke up to an email letting me know that Align Interior Design has been named one of the Top 3 Interior Designers in Maple Ridge for 2025 ✨ (Thank you @threebestratedofficial !)
As a predominantly word-of-mouth, referral-based business, this recognition feels especially meaningful. For years, my focus has been on building relationships and serving clients well — and more recently, I’ve been working day by day to share my work online so more homeowners can discover what we do.
To see that effort reflected in this way, and to know it’s fueled by the reviews and kind words of our clients, leaves me feeling incredibly grateful. 💛
Thank you to every client who has trusted me with their home and taken the time to share their experience — you’re the reason we continue to grow.

But also… this kitchen perfectly shows why hidden storage has become one of the most requested features in modern kitchen renovations.
Behind what looks like a simple cabinetry wall is:
✔ an integrated fridge
✔ hidden freezer storage
✔ a concealed coffee station
✔ functional everyday storage designed around real life
Because the goal wasn’t just creating a beautiful kitchen.
It was creating a kitchen that could handle busy mornings, family gatherings, countertop appliances, snacks, coffee routines, and all the little bits of life… without constantly feeling cluttered.
Honestly, one of the biggest shifts I’m seeing in kitchen design right now is homeowners wanting spaces that feel calmer and more intentional.
Not sterile.
Not ultra minimalist.
Just thoughtful enough that the visual noise quietly disappears.
And details like integrated appliances and hidden storage make a huge difference in how a kitchen feels day to day.

Just handed off this client’s design package and made this little video for them to walk through the vision for their home 🤍
I always love this stage of a project because everything finally starts to feel real. After months of planning, the ideas, materials, layouts, and details all come together into one cohesive direction.
Honestly… I thought this video turned out too cute not to share.
Now I can’t wait to see this one come to life.
Would this be something you’d love to receive during your renovation process? This is my first time making a video like this, but I think I might have to do it for every project now.
One of the biggest goals for this renovation was creating a home that truly brought people together.
Before the renovation, the layout felt much more closed off. Part of the design process involved opening up the main living areas to create a space that felt connected, welcoming, and made for gathering. A home where people could cook together, sit by the fire after a day on the mountain, host family dinners, and comfortably spill into conversation from one space to the next.
One of the things the homeowners said early on was that they didn’t want the home to feel “too precious.” They wanted it to be beautiful, but also lived in. Durable materials, comfortable finishes, and thoughtful details that could handle busy weekends, family gatherings, and years of memories being made here.
The dramatic vaulted ceiling and floor-to-ceiling fireplace became an anchor for the space, helping ground the openness while still allowing the warmth of the wood tones and natural light to take center stage.
A home designed to be enjoyed, not just looked at.

The materials we chose vs. how they actually came to life 👀
Narrow townhomes can be tricky.
You want them to feel open and functional… but if every finish is flat, cold, or too visually heavy, the space can start to feel even longer and narrower.
That’s why material selection mattered so much in this project.
The warmth of the wood tones.
The texture layered throughout the kitchen and living space.
The subtle contrast and pops of colour that added depth without making the home feel busy.
Individually, they may have seemed like small decisions.
But together, they completely changed how the home feels to move through every day.
One of my favourite parts about this project is that it wasn’t about forcing the townhome to become something it wasn’t.
It was about helping it feel brighter, warmer, more functional, and better suited for a growing family who already loved where they lived.
A reminder that thoughtful material choices don’t just impact how a home looks…
They impact how it feels to live in.

Sometimes the most complicated design details are the ones you barely notice… and that’s exactly the point. 👀
This “hidden” pantry door was one of the details we meticulously reviewed during both the design and construction phase to make sure it read as one continuous cabinetry wall instead of feeling like an afterthought.
Because when you’re designing a contemporary kitchen, the little alignment details matter:
✔ consistent panel sizing
✔ hardware placement
✔ reveal spacing
✔ grain direction
✔ how the door operates within the millwork composition
The goal wasn’t just to hide a pantry.
It was to create a kitchen that felt calm, intentional, and visually uninterrupted while still functioning beautifully for everyday life.
And some exciting news… this kitchen was recently announced as a NKBA Designer Excellence Award finalist. A really special recognition for a project that involved so many thoughtful details behind the scenes.
One of my favourite parts of this project is that most people would never realize how much coordination went into making this look “simple.” That’s usually how good design works. 🙂
If you’re planning a kitchen renovation and feeling overwhelmed by all the moving pieces, this is exactly why detailed pre-construction planning matters.

Still processing this one over here… and honestly, I’m very aware of how talented this community is. 🤍
I’m incredibly excited (and very grateful) to share that Align Interior Design has been named a finalist in four categories at the 2026 NKBA Western Canada Design Excellence Awards, including Interior Designer of the Year.
Finalist categories:
✨ Interior Designer of the Year
✨ Best Medium Contemporary Kitchen
✨ Best Extra Large Contemporary Bathroom
✨ Best Large Contemporary Bathroom
What makes this feel especially meaningful is being recognized alongside so many designers and teams whose work I genuinely admire. Renovations are never a one-person effort, and these projects only came to life because of incredible clients, our small but mighty team (so thankful for your support!), talented trades, builders, suppliers, and collaborators who trusted the process and brought these spaces to life with us.
A huge congratulations as well to the other Designer of the Year finalists:

I’m very excited to celebrate everyone at the gala in June.
And to our clients… thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your homes, your budgets, your ideas, and sometimes even the “we have no idea where to start” phase. These projects are deeply collaborative, and being invited into such personal spaces is never something I take lightly.
Feeling very grateful today. ✨

Why we picked these specific tiles👇
Some bathroom designs start with a tile selection…
This one started with a feeling.
The clients told me they loved the idea of being able to take a bath under the stars, so from the very beginning, we knew the skylight above the tub had to become the focal point of the entire space.
Every decision was made to support that moment.
The soft, beachy tile tones.
The way the tile wraps the room without feeling busy.
The warm lighting.
The clean lines that let the architecture do the talking instead of competing with it.
And honestly… this is why thoughtful planning matters so much in a renovation.
Sometimes the most impactful part of a design isn’t the “feature” itself. It’s designing the entire room in a way that supports how you want to feel when you’re in it.
In this case? Calm, cozy, and just a little bit like a boutique hotel at the end of a long day 🛁

You walk into the showroom and find 'the one'. ✨️...
The piece you love.
The one that feels a little different… maybe even a little outside your comfort zone.
And then the questions start creeping in.
Will it actually fit through the door?
Is the scale right for your space?
Is it 'too' modern for the rest of your home?
What if you build everything around it… and it doesn’t come together the way you imagined?
So you pause.
Save it for later.
And keep looking… just to be sure.
But at a certain point, it’s not about finding more options.
It’s about trusting how it all comes together.
Because the right piece isn’t the risk…
it just needs the right plan around it.
The layout.
The scale.
The supporting pieces that make it feel intentional instead of out of place.
And when that’s done properly, everything starts to click into place.
You’re not second guessing.
You’re not wondering if it will work.
You just walk in… and it feels finished.
That’s where we come in.
We help you make those decisions with clarity, not hesitation.
We design the space around the pieces you love.
And we take care of the ordering, delivery, and all the behind-the-scenes logistics… right down to removing the packaging so your home is ready to enjoy.
So you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles.
