Facebook’s bullying me again but thankfully this time I have something to post about so I don’t have to resort to mortifying my DJ heroes.

1&2: Firstly, here’s a reminder I got this morning of how fucking good our parties in the Big Joint were. Four years ago @rahaanrah!! I honestly think I left a bit of my heart in that room. And one day I’m going back to get it!

3: Also, and actually more importantly, MDDGOLD013 is one step closer. I reckon I’ll have test presses next week at some point so watch this space.

4: And finally.. Good news everyone! All future MDD Gold 45s will have their very own house bags.

Facebook is bullying me into posting more stuff but sadly I don't have anything to spam about just now. I'm feart the algorithm will fall out with me if I don't comply so here's a tale that may seem totally random, but it's something I think about almost every time I release a record..

Back when I was a wee guy we all used to go to "Shotts". Fuck knows why we called it Shotts because we didn't actually go to Shotts. Where we went was Allanton. But literally nobody called it that.

Anyway, I digress. We went dancing to northern soul and Shotts at that time was by far the best place in the world to do that. Absolutely no question. Ask anyone.

The music was perfect, the characters that played the music were kind of mental - but in a good way, the guests were phenomenal. You had your Colin Law getting the place going nuts to £1000 Detroit rarities at peak time, you had the likes of the Walls bros, the Jim Tennant and the wonderful soul who was Mark Linton just holding it the fuck down. You had everything from obscure 60s newies to out and out classics. (There was even a wee bit of disco that they didn't call disco via Tom Jackson 😂) And the record bar was ooft fuck me bloody hell.

I wasn't going to post any more about tomorrow but I just stumbled on this photo of me and @youngpulse from 2017 - when he actually was young, and I was less old. We'll be doing the last couple of hours in the Poetry Club tomorrow if you want to be around for the big reunion. If there's any tickets left the link is in bio.

I believe it's going to be a sunny, warm, cold, dry, wet, bright, dull day so dress appropriately.

Apologies to all the people who like a story. I don’t really have any about the people who are playing on Sunday. Other than maybe @rab.sinclair1 and @moodena909 But they’re probably not the sort of stories people want to read.

Perhaps this will suffice though.. years and years ago I was standing waiting to cross a road in Glasgow when a van pulled up at the lights. The driver was the guy who used to do our sound system in the Big Joint. The passengers were @fergus_mcvicar_ and @merylgilbert. Driver shouts “This is Fergus, he’s opening a club, you should do a night there” and drove off.

That club was the Berkeley Suite. I took his advice. The rest is history.

Anyway, in case you’re wondering, the point of this story is.. There were only two dates available when I initially spoke to Meryl all those years ago. One was the 3rd Saturday in January, the other was the Easter weekend. I sought advice from a friend who ran successful events and he told me “DO NOT PUT AN EVENT ON AT EASTER”. He spoke in all caps to emphasise how serious he was.

And he was right because Easter is for things like Sunday’s Scottish House and Disco Festival. Nobody in their right mind is going anywhere else this weekend.

The full line up and timetable are out there somewhere. I’ll be playing my five records from 10-11pm in the Poetry Club. That’s the main thing.
