AMBOS Project
Binational artist collaborative working along the US/Mexico border to build migrant support systems through craft, care, and mutual aid #AMBOSCeramics

In 2025, AMBOS continues to build a space for creation, care and connection. Across 80+ classes in migrant shelters in Tijuana, hundreds of participants shaped clay—and with it, moments of care, expression, and community 🫂🏳️🌈🤍
This is a glimpse into a year of shared stories, resilience, and collective making ⚡ #AMBOSproject #AMBOSceramics #Tijuana

Last month we were so excited to share that our piece ‘Con nuestras manos construimos deidades / With our hands we build deities’ was being shown again it it’s entirety at the Frederick R. Weissman Museum at Pepperdine University. When the show opened, we were so grateful to be in such a thoughtful exhibition curated by @gyorodyody about labor, care, motherhood, disability rights, and most importantly, the right to speak up and portray ourselves how we want to be seen. Unfortunately, last week we received a call about the censorship of our work and @elanamannstudio . Because there was a lack of transparency from the administration who decided to censor our work for ‘overt political speech,’ we decided to remove our work, because it is not just silencing a group of artists but a whole community of asylum seekers, immigrants, migrants, border dwellers and people experiencing persecution and violence. This work is about connection despite borders, about advocating for freedom of movement and for a future where families are not separated. In these times of increased political violence, where masked men kidnap our neighbors and terrorize our communities we believe that a simple statement among hundreds saying “ABOLISH ICE” is not only warranted but necessary.
When we show our work, we speak for ourselves and our community, and never believe that the institution showing the work is endorsing our beliefs. Pepperdine’s delayed efforts to resolve the problem were disappointing as they came after several of our colleagues decided to remove their work in solidarity with us. Their actions showed disregard for the role art can play in an academic setting.
Thank you to our fellow artists for your support and community, especially @elanamannstudio ❤️ Thanks to @officialstromberg and @henrygadams for the coverage of this issue. Please read their pieces to understand everything that happened.

Join us this Saturday for a conversation and open dialogue with Tanya Aguiñiga and Natalie Godinez around Quipu Fronterizo / Border Quipu, a participatory project developed with AMBOS Project that explores the everyday experiences of people crossing the U.S.–Mexico border.
During the talk, they will share the process behind the project and its new iteration currently being developed in different border communities, including Ciudad Juárez and El Paso. The event will also open space for dialogue, exchange, and conversation around community, territory, and border experiences.

Some of the #AMBOSceramics pieces created by our students this year 🤎
From sculpting exercises to mold-making, our students draw inspiration from craft traditions around the world. Ceramics from Oaxaca and Guadalajara have guided us in creating animal figures with human traits, burnished birds, and delicate floral forms. Swedish Dala horses also inspired our own playful, personality-filled versions 🐎✨
Our students—coming from different regions of the world—find joy in sharing their cultural knowledge, recognizing both the differences and the beautiful connections across craft traditions 🌎

Queer Milagros: Petitions from the Border is part of Craft-itarianism: Community Action Through Craft, curated by Alyssa Velázquez at @centerforcraft in Asheville, NC 📍
This installation brings together handmade milagros created by LGBTQ+ migrant students in our trauma-informed ceramics workshops along the U.S./Mexico border. These objects draw from a traditional spiritual practice in which milagros are offered as wishes, prayers, or expressions of gratitude.
In this piece, the milagros take on contemporary and personal forms—such as a flying dollar bill, an airplane, eyes, or high heels—reflecting both individual experiences and shared concerns like migration, protection, survival, and identity. The installation is set against a large image of La Casita de Unión Trans (@lacasitadeut) in #Tijuana, grounding the work in a specific site of refuge and community.
Together, the piece bridges tradition and lived experience, using these symbolic objects to express hope, resilience, and collective humanity.
✨ Craft-itarianism highlights how making can foster connection and create meaningful support for vulnerable communities. On view February–September 2026.
On this exhibition we share space with meaningful creators like: Black Craftspeople Digital Archive, Center for Creative Works, Firebird Community Arts, People’s Pottery Project, and Maggie Thompson.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
