Critics’ Week!!! My small Tamil film, கத்து! / Bleat!, is going to Cannes! To be able to finally show off the beauty of my people and culture on the biggest stage of the cinema world is such an honour. Feels crazy and surreal thinking about bringing my mother tongue to the spotlight.

My biggest love to the real G.O.A.T’s whom you will meet in this vlog and the rest of the cast and crew who have been a part of this journey and have helped bring this vision to life.

Holy Goat!

We’re honoured to share that @ananthsubra’s "BLEAT!" has been officially selected for @semaine_de_la_critique, marking a historic milestone as the first-ever Malaysian short film to compete at the Cannes Film Festival!

A heartfelt thank you to the selection committees for believing in our big goat and giving it the chance to shine on one of the world’s most prestigious stages.

Produced by @belz_23 (@sixtymac_pictures), this wild and heartfelt journey would not have been possible without the trust and support from our co-producers - @bradliew (@epicmediaph , Philippines), @dominique_welinski (DW, France), and our sales agent @madletter from @horsdubocalsales

We’re also deeply grateful for the support from @sgiffest SEA-Short Grant, @momofilmco Distribution Grant, @whitelightpost, @tentosevencreative, @dbstudiosbeirut and @finasmalaysia - your belief in the film means the world to us.

To our brilliant cast and crew - thank you! You brought your heart, soul, and incredible talent to this film!

Let the goat make some noise in Cannes!

Yesterday, we celebrated the world premiere of Next Step Studio Indonesia 2026 at La Semaine de la Critique, Cannes Film Festival ✨

Four original short films — Holy Crowd, Original Wound, Annisa, and Mothers Are Mothering — born from collaborations between Indonesian and Southeast Asian filmmakers, finally met the world.

More than two years in the making, this project is built on one belief: that the next great voice in cinema can come from anywhere — especially from Indonesia and Southeast Asia. ❤️🎬

Presenting short film ‘Bleat!’ for the next MAMI Independent screening on Wednesday, 13th May at PVR Lido, Juhu at 7pm!

An elderly Malaysian-Tamil couple discovers their male goat, set for ceremonial slaughter, is pregnant. Torn between faith and the expectations of their community, they struggle to decide whether to slaughter it or face the wrath of the gods.

‘Bleat!’ became the first Malaysian short film featured in the Cannes Critics’ Week last year, where it won the Queer Palm for Best Short Film.

Filmed in black-and-white, the short utilises satirical and sensory storytelling to examine the cultural rigidities of the Tamil-speaking community in Malaysia.

Ananth Subramaniam is a Malaysian filmmaker of Tamil descent who co-founded Idio Sync Inc, a production house created to develop Tamil culture infused stories.

Followed by the screening of animated feature ‘Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust’.

Entry is free, and managed via queue on a first-come, first-served basis.

To receive newsletters and updates on MAMI’s future screenings and events, join the MyMAMI Community via the link in our bio!

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
