sharing another track on bandcamp today from my forthcoming ep. this one is titled "유산가 (to the peach blossom spring!)"

this track began as an experiment in creating a dialogue btwn the haunting viola & cello samples from jin hi kim's kee maek #3 (1988) and the vocals from 유산가 (yusanga), a traditional korean folk song originating from the late joseun period about the lush beauty of springtime in the mountains.

would love to share more reflections on this one at some point in the future but simply put this is a dancefloor anthem i personally needed to hear.

the rest of this ep drops early next week, and the release show is this saturday with a dreamy lineup ft @ohyunglia, @ccciringeee, @_n_x_p, @dragon_of_the_yeast and @byul__blog.

so so excited to play live for the first time in ages and sweat it out in the dancefloor w yall after :')

save the date! one month from today, i am releasing my ep 'ode to hallasan' and hosting a release show with some dear friends and artists whose work has felt really resonant this past year. stoked and honored to present a night of all extremely talented trans asian baddies, what a dream <333

this night will present a lineup of all trans asian diasporic sound alchemists exploring low-end frequencies, experimental and club-oriented renderings, recontextualizations of traditional folk melodies and timbres, and more.

nguyendowsXP (@_n_x_p) opens the night with an ambient/downtempo set, weaving their Vietnamese heritage into genre-fluid experimentations to find visceral points of resonance in their ever-evolving soundscapes.

arbitrary rationale (@arbitraryrationale) takes the helm next, with a live set deconstructing their new 4-track ep anchored in nonlinear temporality, sonic ritual, and Korean folk samples reimagined as a prayer on the dancefloor.

next, ciringe (@ccciringeee) will grace the decks with their honed attunement of sub frequencies and leftfield bass, expertly activating the dancefloor with spine-melting wobbles and delectable bounce.

closing out the night, OHYUNG (@ohyunglia) will gift us with an all asian diasporic techno set that will make us sweat out all the oppression in our bodies and usher us thru a nostalgic journey bent toward the future.

taehee yoonseul (@dragon_of_the_yeast) will provide their intuitive prowess in visual sorcery to accompany the performances throughout the night.

byul chu (@byul__blog) will anchor us with the clarifying warmth of their poetry at the top of the night.

tickets are sliding scale $15-20 and will go toward supporting the venue and artists.
